The 5 BEST Things I Ate at Disney World’s Newest Restaurant

If there’s one thing we love about Disney World, it’s being able to check out the latest and greatest eats around the parks, hotels, and more.

Summer House on the Lake

Summer House on the Lake is the newest sit-down eatery to join the Disney Springs lineup and so far, we’ve been loving every visit we’ve had here! We recently went back to check out even more eats, so we’re sharing the best of what we tried.

It’s not every day that a new restaurant opens in Disney World, so when it does, we make sure to tell you all about it! Summer House on the Lake recently invited us to check out some of their most popular eats as part of their grand opening celebration — so I’m dishing on the best things I tried!

Cheesy Dream Puffs

The Tropical Dreams cocktail is made with Sunny Vodka, lime, and habanero honey. It was simple but so delicious. There was virtually no bit from the vodka, instead, it was quite tart thanks to the lime juice. Sometimes drinks with a heat factor can be hard to drink, but the habanero honey was subtle and added a nice heat without being too overpowering.

Who would have thought a regular ol’ meatball would make this list? Well, this isn’t a regular ol’ meatball if you ask me. The Prime Beef Meatballs are served with marinara and parmesan, and y’all, these were some of the best meatballs I’ve ever had. They were so complex in flavor — incredibly rich and tender without being chewy or overcooked. The marinara was cheesy and buttery, not too acidic either.

I ate my fair share of Grilled Tequila-Lime Chicken tacos as well. These babies are served with corn tortillas, crunchy slaw, salsa verde, and guacamole. I’ve never really met a taco I didn’t like, but the combination of flavors working in this little pocket of deliciousness was top-notch. The chicken was nicely grilled and not chewy at all, and we loved the crunchy texture from the slaw.

I was honestly shocked by how much I loved the Truffle Fries. They’re served with parmesan and truffle aioli, and while truffle can get some justified hate when it’s overpowering — that was not the case here at all. The fries were shoestring and perfectly crispy and were dusted with truffle and rosemary. The truffle flavor was subtle and when combined with that aioli?! Unreal.

And, of course, is it really a trip to Summer House if you didn’t visit the Cookie Bar?! This in-house bakery serves up a variety of cookies and every one I tried was worth writing home about. But, the Sea Salt Chocolate Chip cookie might just take the (cookie) cake as my favorite.

It was perfectly soft with huge chocolate chunks in it — but not too many that you didn’t taste the cookie itself. The addition of the sea salt helps cut some of that sweetness and really helps those flavors sing!
