You Might Want to STAY AWAY From Disneyland for the Next Few Days…

Are you headed to Disneyland this month?

Maybe you’re ready to dive into a churro, ride the superior version of Pirates of the Caribbean, and visit Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure. Well, if you ARE going in January, we’ve got a word of warning about some dates that could bring EXTRA crowds to the parks.

For the first time in SEVEN years, runDisney events will be returning to Disneyland. The first event will be the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, which will run from January 11th through January 14th. 

The event will include a half marathon, 5K, 10K, kids’ races, and more. Runners will be making their way through the parks and surrounding areas while meeting Disney characters and seeing entertainment on the course. That means a lot of runners will be heading to the parks over that weekend, adding to the crowds. Also, certain areas around Disneyland could be blocked off, meaning traffic might be diverted — and backed up — as each event takes place.

The last runDisney event was in 2017. According to The Orange County Register, that event brought more than 8,700 people to the parks. The 2018 and 2019 events were canceled due to the construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Following that, the event was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which closed Disneyland for over a year.

According to KTLA, city officials are urging people to avoid the Disneyland Resort area, as well as Angel Stadium and Honda Center.

So be warned if you have plans to be in Disneyland during that time — things are going to be BUSY.
