Disney took a big risk with the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. The ambitious Star Wars Hotel opened just one year ago, yet about 17 months after the grand opening, the unique boutique hotel experience officially ended.
Fans speculated about why Disney decided to close the hotel, critics debated the value of the experience, and analysts discussed the massive financial loss on Disney’s part. But now that the dust has settled, we can officially report that the Star Wars Hotel is permanently closed.
The final Galactic Starcruiser voyage began on September 28th and ended on September 30th. Now, fans are left to speculate on what Disney could do with the space. What would you like to see take over the hotel?
The final farewell voyage sold out quickly after Disney first announced that the hotel was set to close in October. In fact, we noticed several dates sell out ahead of the historic closure as fans rushed to visit the hotel one last time.
Disney has not shared any information on what it plans to do with the large 100-room hotel building. Some hope for a new attraction, while others would like to see some kind of Disney hotel replace the former “hotel experience” onboard the Starcruiser.

The experiences were like a video game, staring at your device. That’s not a real experience. They should have approached this experience like the Disney Cruise Line. Multiple dining experiences, kids only and adults only spaces, an indoor pool deck with water slides. And a spa! The star wars motel was more money than going on an actual cruise.
