What Disney World Fans Get Wrong About the Skyliner

The Disney Skyliner: a soothing ride in the sky to where you need to go.

The Skyliner

The Skyliner is Disney’s latest transportation option that can take you between parks and resorts. It can be really convenient! But we’ve noticed one thing that many guests seem to get wrong about the Skyliner, and we’re here to help you out.

The Skyliner opened in Disney World on September 29th, 2019. It is designed sort of like a ski lift you would see at ski resorts, with gondolas that carry passengers.

It has fun, whimsical designs on many of the gondolas featuring many beloved, iconic Disney characters. They’ve even come out with popcorn buckets designed like it! The gondolas sway in the air and get you where you need to go. They can be very efficient transportation.

But there is one misunderstanding about the Skyliner that we want to clear up. The Skyliner, as great as it is, does NOT go to all the parks in Disney World. The only parks the Skyliner travels to are EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

It also transports guests to several resorts near Hollywood Studios and Epcot. The resorts you can that have Skyliner stations are:

The Skyliner Station that is at EPCOT is at the International Gateway entrance into EPCOT (a small entrance right into the World Showcase). This is also conveniently located near The Beach Club, The Yacht Club, and The Boardwalk Resorts.

International Gateway is a gateway to many places!

To travel between Epcot and Hollywood Studios, you have to take the Skyliner that gets you to the Caribbean Beach station then hop on the other branch of gondolas. This can be a great way to park hop to the other park.

The Skyliner has become one of our favorite ways to travel between the parks and resorts. But it is important to remember that it only goes to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. If you want to get to the other parks you’ll have to use other transportation methods. You can catch the monorail from EPCOT to Magic Kingdom or use the free Disney buses to head to Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom (from Hollywood Studios).

Buses also take you to and from resorts. There are many ways to get around Disney World! We wanted to make sure to clear the air about this Skyliner common misunderstanding. We hope this helps!

  1. The missing link is getting from the skyliner at International Gateway to the monorail. I’d love to see a pathway that doesn’t require entrance into Epcot.
