We have been tracking the progress of the Brightline train from Orlando for a while now.

In February, we found out that the train will begin service to Miami from MCO in the second quarter of 2023. A few days after that announcement, the final train arrived in Orlando. Now, there is one more major milestone that has happened!

According to the Orlando Business Journal, the train tested at 130 mph along a 35-mile corridor between Orlando International Airport and Cocoa.

“Brightline spokeswoman, Katie Mitzner,  said the train was testing at 5 mph above the speed it will travel when the 170-mile Orlando-to-West Palm Beach expansion opens.”

Testing will continue through other counties as well and will run a simulated service that will travel the entire corridor length before service actually starts in Orlando. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned in April for the Orlando International Airport station however, this will not signify that the rail is open.
