All-Time High Pricing Continues for Genie+ in Disney World

If you’re going to Disney World today and planning to buy Genie+, we hope you budgeted appropriately.

Genie+ Lightning Lane

Over the President’s Day weekend, we saw Genie+ hit some extremely HIGH prices in Disney World, and it seems that today (President’s Day itself) won’t be any different.

On February 20th ( President’s Day), Genie+ was priced at $29 per person. This is the highest price we’ve seen Genie+ hit in Disney World.

What about Individual Lightning Lanes (pay-per-ride)? Well, by the time we checked in the morning on February 28th (at around 8:30AM ET) this is what we found:

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — the My Disney Experience app indicated that it was “not currently offered” (it might have been that Individual Lightning Lanes for that ride had already sold out for the day, but you can check the app for updates)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — $17
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance — $25
  • Avatar: Flight of Passage — the My Disney Experience app indicated that it was “not currently offered” (it might have been that Individual Lightning Lanes for that ride had already sold out for the day, but you can check the app for updates)

Overall, Genie+ can hit higher prices around holiday periods, so this news comes as no surprise around President’s Day weekend, but it is an important reminder that holiday periods don’t just include “bigger” holidays like Halloween and Christmas. They can also include these “smaller” long weekends.

Also, note that Genie+ did sell out on February 19th in Disney World for the first time EVER. That could happen again today or at some point in the future. When Genie+ sells out, sales pause for the service generally until the next day. So if you want to use the service, consider buying it EARLY in the day. Genie+ itself generally becomes available to buy around midnight of the day of your trip.

Pay-per-ride selections, on the other hand, become available at 7AM for those staying at a Disney Resort Hotel (or the Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, or Shades of Green Resorts). All other guests can make their first pay-per-ride selection when the park opens. This can be a big advantage for hotel guests on busy days like this one.

We’ll keep an eye out for more Genie+ news and let you know what we see.

  1. I think it’s just a money grab. Just stop it all together and just wait in line again. Walt would hate thinking families can’t afford to visit anymore. So sad…

  2. How about passing all that extra revenue on to the underpaid cast members? Another $1 an hour will more than be covered by the exorbitant up charge. They are the ones having to deal with the increased crowds.
