Do you have big plans for celebrating Black History Month?

Maybe you’re going to a film screening or a community event, or perhaps getting together with friends and family to share your favorite foods.

Whatever your plans are, you might want to coordinate your outfit, too. Culture is shared not only in what we do but how we dress, and whether you choose to don traditional attire or take inspiration from your favorite characters, there are many ways to celebrate. We put together some outfits you can wear at Disney or at home for Black History Month, so check them out below!

Wakandan Fashion

Have some fancy dinner plans? Get ready to blow them all away with this beautiful off the shoulder dress. The bold colors and patterns in this dress go perfectly with this round Africa crossbody bag, creating a coordinating look.

Because the dress is the focal point, we stuck to only black accessories. Black heels are an easy choice, but if you’re more comfortable in flats those would work too. We added a bracelet that not only looks similar to the kimoyo beads they use in the Black Panther films but also has a panther charm! Lastly, finish off with a pair of Afrofuturistic earrings and you are all set for the evening.

Here is another Black Panther option!

Soul

Let Joe Gardner be your soulmate with this outfit inspired by the movie Soul! We started with this “Find Your Spark” t-shirt featuring Joe and Mr. Mittens. We paired it with a pair of shorts and some simple fashion sneakers. This is a casual look perfect for wearing in the parks or to a low-key get together.

The shorts and low-rise shoes will also show off your Soul socks too! On one sock is Joe, and Mr. Mittens makes another appearance on the other. How cute would this be walking around Magic Kingdom? Of course, don’t forget to finish off with Joe’s signature hat!

Penny Proud

Have you been watching the new Proud Family episodes? No matter whether you’re a new fan or watched the original series growing up, you can channel Penny with this look. With just a few items you can replicate her everyday outfit as a comfortable outfit you might want to wear everyday, too!

Penny’s look is made up of three key pieces: a white polo, light magenta cardigan, and a burgundy circle skirt. Her outfit is completed by some matching burgundy shoes and white ankle socks. Put your hair in some pig tails to really nail the look!

Princess Tiana

Plenty of us want to experience being a princess at least once in our lives, and with this outfit inspired by Tiana you can have your moment! If you’ll be in the parks during Black History Month, this is a great ensemble to wear (and even better if you’ll be taking part in any of the Mardi Gras festivities!).

We love this green dress; it reminds us of Tiana’s beautiful ball gown. To keep the outfit from being overly formal, we paired this skirt with Tiana ears and a pair of walking shoes. Accessorize with your favorite Tiana pieces, like this frog necklace. Now you’re ready to hit the bayou! (Promise us you won’t kiss any frogs you see, though!)
