5 Disney World Construction Projects Had CHANGES

There are SO many construction projects happening in Disney World right now, but don’t get overwhelmed — we’ve got them all sorted out for you!

Magic Kingdom

We’ve got updates going on in the parks with new rides, restaurants, and general refurbishments, but there are also some changes coming to the Disney World hotels. There’s a lot that happened this week with those projects, so let’s dive into a full update!

Magic Kingdom

Starting out at the OG Disney World park, we’ve got to talk about TRON! The outside area of the coaster is nearly complete, with much of the concrete poured for the walkways and planters getting filled with trees and bushes.

We’ve also seen the nighttime lights turned on a number of times recently and we’ve spotted ride testing frequently. We can’t wait!

EPCOT

Over at EPCOT, we’ve got an update at Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. Last week, the gigantic Te Fiti sculpture was added to the attraction, and since then, we’ve seen a little more progress with getting the pathway of the attraction worked out and the ground leveled.

The rest of World Celebration and World Nature construction is coming along as well! We’ve begun to see more progress with leveling and new structures being built in the areas that were previously undeveloped.

Just think — next year we’ll be able to walk through the middle of the park again!

Hollywood Studios

This week we got some big news — Roundup Rodeo BBQ has delayed its opening to spring 2023. It was previously supposed to open by the end of this year, but we’re not surprised that it has been delayed since the construction walls are still up and most of the building is covered in scaffolding.

It’s difficult to tell when things change with the project here since it’s so hidden, but we’ll keep watching in the coming weeks.

Animal Kingdom

At Animal Kingdom, the fountains in front of DINOSAUR have been under construction for quite some time, but the walls were taken back down this week!

Now you can once again get a stunning photo in front of the ride, and the water fixtures are working better than ever!

Disney Resorts

Finally, let’s head over to the BoardWalk, where we’ve got some progress happening at the future home of The Cake Bake Shop. We noted a while back that all mentions of the ESPN Club had been removed, but now the restaurant has been covered with construction walls. We’ll be excited to dine here in 2023!
