Disney Pauses Sale of Magic Key Passes

Last year, Disneyland introduced a new annual pass program called Magic Key Pass.

In this past year, we’ve seen the availability for Magic Key Passes come and go. Passes first went on sale in August of 2021, before sales were paused in May 2022. However, in a surprise move, sales resumed on November 16th.

But, just one day after sales resumed, Disney shared that two of these passes are not available to purchase. On November 16th, the options for passes and prices were:

• Inspire Key — $1599
• Believe Key — $1099
• Imagine Key (SoCal residents only) — $449

The Enchant Key, which costs $699, was only available for renewal.

If you were looking to grab a Magic Key, you had to prepare for a wait! Even after 24 hours passed since they resumed sales, the wait time was listed at more than an hour.

But, just a day later, when you visited the waiting room for Magic Key Passes, you could see that the Believe Key was no longer available for sale. Additionally, the Enchant Key was still only available to renew versus buying a new one.

Ultimately, sales for the Inspire Key were also ultimately suspended.

UPDATE: On November 18th, we visited the Magic Key website, which now indicates that they have paused new sales of Magic Key passes — this appears to now apply to ALL pass types. Disney indicated that they stopped sales of new passes to “protect the experience for Magic Key holders and the value those passes provide.”

Renewals, however, continue to be available.

When we looked at the details for each pass type, they noted that they were each available for “Renewal Only.”
