What You Need to Know About the Secret 'Star Wars' Movie Currently in the Works

It’s been a few years since the last theatrical release of a Star Wars film. After Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which premiered all the way back in 2019, we haven’t seen any Jedis at the movie theaters since.

Fans of the franchise have had the chance to view new series on Disney+, like The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but many have been wondering when Lucasfilm would put out another feature film.

According to Deadline, the time is coming sooner than we thought! A new Star Wars film is in development according to sources working closely on the project. It is believed that Damon Lindelof, who has written for films like Star Trek Into Darkness and television shows like Lost, has been brought on as one of the scriptwriters.

Even though the script is still being written and it appears the film won’t come out in the near future, a director has been chosen so their vision for the story fits in with the script. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who directed the Ms. Marvel show on Disney+, is set to direct, according to sources close to the project.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, sources say that the story will take place after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but it is not a continuation of the Skywalker saga. It is possible though that the movie will have characters from the 2010s Star Wars trilogy.

The movie is also set to be a stand-alone for now, but if it is successful, more movies could be considered. While there is not much information about the movie yet, we’ll keep you updated when Lucasfilm announces anything!
