It was just announced that Disneyland will be celebrating in a BIG way for the opening of the Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Set for release on November 11th, 2022, the movie will serve as the final installment in Phase 4 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. And according to reports, it is set for a BIG opening weekend.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the long-awaited sequel to 2018’s Black Panther is set to generate at least $175 million across North American theaters over its opening weekend.
Phase 4 is the first part of the Multiverse Saga and includes prior releases like Black Widow and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After multiple production-related issues, Marvel had to adjust the release schedule several times. The idea for a sequel to the original Black Panther began almost immediately after the release of the first film. Black Panther was praised by critics and audiences alike and turned Chadwick Boseman into an international star.

After Boseman’s untimely death in 2020, the script had to be reworked which was another reason for its delay. Marvel decided not to recast the role, and the executive producer of the film, Victoria Alonso, stated to Deadline that they would not be creating a digital double of Boseman and would take their time to figure out how to craft a story that would honor him and the legacy he created.

Wakanda Forever will bring back Black Panther actors such as Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, and other familiar faces. The premise involves the people of Wakanda fighting to defend their kingdom after other nations attempt to invade in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will premiere in North American theaters on November 11th, 2022. For more Marvel news, make sure to read about the addition of M’Baku to Disney’s Avengers Campus, along with our review of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law!
