We are on our phones while at Disney World now more than ever. Between My Disney Experience, Genie, and just taking good old fashioned pictures, your phone is sure to take a hit to its battery.
You may have noticed these FuelRod stations around the parks. FuelRods are handy portable chargers, and give you the convenience of turning in empty ones to exchange for a refill! They’re not just available at Disney either; FuelRods have stations across the U.S. and can be a great investment!

FuelRods are a great option when picking a portable charger because you don’t have to worry about running out of battery in your charger! Other portable chargers need to be charged themselves, and once that runs out … well, what can you do?
With FuelRods, when you run out of battery, just head over to one of their stations to exchange your drained FuelRod for a fresh and fully-charged one. FuelRod even has an app you can download to help you locate nearby stations! They’re a great size, small enough to fit in your pocket. However, there has been a bit of drama regarding this; originally in 2016 when FuelRods were first introduced at Disney, all you had to pay $30 for your initial kit and all subsequent replacements were free. In 2019 there was suddenly a $3 for all replacements which resulted in a class-action lawsuit.
From then, anyone who purchased a FuelRod kit prior to 2019 was grandfathered in and would continue to receive free refills. However, we found that the system put in place to monitor who was part of that group wasn’t regulated and even if we didn’t input our email address into the machines we still received free refills. Basically, you may or may not have to shell out an additional $3 for each refill! This is just something to keep in mind if you decide to invest in one.

All things considered, we love the convenience of these chargers and think they’re a great option for keeping your phones fully charged during long days in the parks.
