NEWS: Shania Twain and Martin Short Could Star in Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ ABC Special

Beauty and the Beast TV special is coming to ABC this year and we’ve got a big update!

In 2022, ABC will present a two-hour production called Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration, which will be recorded in front of a live audience and aired the next day. We already know who will play Belle, the narrator, Gaston, and the Beast. But now we have an EPIC casting update on 2 stars that could be joining the team.

According to Variety, Martin Short and Shania Twain are in “final talks” to join the Beauty and the Beast special on ABC!


Sources have indicated to Variety that Martin Short would play Lumiere, while Shania Twain would play Mrs. Potts. Talk about an EPIC casting!

If confirmed, Short and Twain would join David Alan Grier, who will be playing the role of Cogsworth.

Oscar-winner H.E.R. is set to play Belle, Josh Groban has been cast as the Beast, and Joshua Henry will be Gaston. Also in the cast is EGOT legend Rita Moreno, who will be the narrator.


The special will be a live-action/animated hybrid production. It’ll be filmed live, and will have never-before-seen musical performances. You’ll find it on ABC on December 15th and on Disney+ on December 16th.
