Halloween has finally made its way to the west coast!

We’ve been celebrating spooky season for a few weeks in Disney World, but now the party has officially kicked off at Disneyland Resort as well! Starting September 2nd, we got new snacks, characters in costume, and lots of other special offerings. In honor of the occasion, Disney has shared a first look at what you can expect in 2022!
Let’s start out with a fan-favorite Halloween tradition — Haunted Mansion Holiday! The ride transformation is complete for the season, with an overlay themed to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

As part of the overlay, the popular gingerbread house is back, and according to Disney, “this year’s all-new original design features some mischievous cookies who have stolen their way into Sandy Claws’ festivities in the ballroom.” Check it out in the video below.

Also new this year, Disney announced a while back that some of your favorite characters will be donning never-before-seen costumes! These “homemade” looks are only for 2022, so you’ll have to visit before the Halloween season is over to check them out.
Look out for Mickey as a jack-o-lantern, Minnie as a witch…

…Goofy as a haunted apple tree, and Donald as candy corn. Daisy, Clarabelle Cow, Chip, Dale, and Pluto will also have special costumes!

When we were out in the park today, we spotted some of these fun new outfits. How cute is Mickey as a pumpkin?!

Besides these special offerings, don’t forget to check out the Halloween Screams projection show in Disneyland Park or the family-friendly fun of Radiator Screams in California Adventure. Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween, and Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark also are special ride overlays done for the season.

For those who wish to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, you’ll want to visit California Adventure for Plaza de la Familia through November 2nd. During that celebration, Disney brings the hit movie Coco to life with songs and performances throughout the day.
There’s a lot of fun to experience in Disneyland Resort this fall, and we’ll be there to show you all of the amazing offerings! We’ve already been shopping the merchandise and scoping out the decor, so stay tuned for more.
