Disney MagicBand+ Orders DELAYED Resulting in Refunds and Free Gift Cards

The MagicBand+ recently debuted in Disney World, giving guests a NEW way to interact in the parks.

MagicBand+ is officially here!

These new bands offer more features than the regular MagicBand, like lights, haptics, gesture recognition, and more, but they also come at a higher price. Some guests qualified for a discount — and if you placed an order for an upcoming visit, you might not be getting your order in time.

Not long ago, we told you about a way to get a discount on the new MagicBand+! As long as you have an upcoming Disney World hotel reservation or you’re an Annual Passholder, you could visit your account on Disney World’s website (My Disney Experience) to place an order for a discounted MagicBand+.

Each MagicBand+ was available for $10 less than retail, with plain bands costing $24.99 and designs costing $34.99. It seems like so many people placed orders that Disney sent out an email this afternoon announcing that they will not be able to fulfill some orders in time for upcoming visits.

As a result, Disney said they will be issuing refunds to people who will not receive their MagicBand+ in time for their Disney World visit, making their existing order complimentary. Furthermore, they will also be emailing a $50 digital gift card for use toward a MagicBand+ purchase in the parks (or anything else).

If you placed a MagicBand+ order through My Disney Experience, you might want to check your email to find out if your order has been delayed, and keep an eye out for your digital gift card so you can buy one in the parks!

  1. We ordered ours as soon as they released (July 27) for an August 15th checkin date. We leave the 14th and they are still 5 states away per tracking. We got an email yesterday saying they were shipped and we called asking what would happen if we don’t get them in time and we were told they were sent to the resort. Buuuuuut as of today, 5 states away per USPS. We have no email of delay and no bands…praying that if they are not at the resort…they will honor this. Disney always tries to make it right and I hope they do because we would not have dropped $150 on 4 bands if we weren’t going to have them for the trip. Wish us luck!

  2. I ordered one around 5:30am on the 27th for my stay beginning on 8/20 and took screenshots of the order. I have yet to receive ANY emails – nothing confirming (though it shows in process STILL), nothing about “oops, so sorry”…nothing.
Honestly even if it shipped today, based on the OSM (the company that gets it to the post office) track record for time once they ship, I won’t get it in time – I am leaving the 18th.
So I’ll be speaking politely but firmly with someone when I get to the resort. It will do me no good sitting at my mailbox. I would HOPE that they will extend this to me as well.
Very not-magical start to this vacation.
