It’s been quite a week for MagicBands!

Well, more specifically, it’s been quite a week for Disney’s new MagicBand+. The brand-new bands were accidentally put on the shelves for sale this past weekend before Disney quickly pulled them — but not before guests were able to snatch some up. Then, Disney shared some additional details on exactly how these new bands would be different than their predecessors. And now we’re sharing a first look at the new MagicBand+ in action!
We finally have a first look at how Disney’s new MagicBand+ will interact with guests and the parks around them!

First things first, can we talk about how cool it is that they light up? The MagicBand+ will sparkle and shine at times like upon entering the parks and when interacting in certain areas.

Guests will be able to interact with the 50th Anniversary Gold Character Statues found in the parks via the Play Disney Parks app as part of the “Disney Fab 50 Quest,”…

…and we got to preview what that will look like!

Disclosure: We were invited by Disney to attend this media preview. This did not affect our reporting of the event — our opinions are our own.
I was just there last week…not interested in using phone and seeing what else might be there from work, familyetc. The numbers of parents ignoring their kids while playing with their phones was incredibly sad…this is a family vacation? This is what you want your kids to remember? “ they were always on their phone” Enough with more and more reasons to use a phone….no, I don’t mobile order and it works just fine…no I don’t use Genie and that works out fine, too..we talk to people!
Lol they will call us troglodytes, but I agree…and I’m of the generation that supposedly can’t resist tech! Well, I am addicted to my smartphone. “Hi, I’m Jim, and I’m an iPhone addict.”
But I hear you. I remember visiting the park as a child and the only tech in hand was my mom with her camera and my dad with his video camera catching my and my brother’s reactions when we spotted Mickey or another of our favorite characters. I just received the Magic Bands for my wife and I for our trip later this year, and my first thought was “crap, I already bought my bands”. Then I thought “jeez, now my damn wrist needs to light up?”. I am looking forward to our trip, but I’m really not looking forward to having to use my iPhone to “maximize my experience”. Though I am considering wearing a gopro to capture instances where someone on their smartphone isn’t paying attention and has a close encounter with an assistive scooter…
