All Races SOLD OUT for 2023 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Next year, runDisney will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Marathon with a 90’s theme, and all of the fun experiences that come with participating in a runDisney event.

After a bumpy start to general registration this morning, the website finally opened at 12:30PM for those wishing to register for Marathon Weekend.

Unfortunately, less than an hour after general registration opened, some of the events were already unavailable. When the site opened at 12:30PM, guests were put into a virtual waiting room and were let into the website when it became their turn. At 1:05PM, Disney posted this update on the website.

As of that time, the 5K, 10K, and Dopey Challenge (which is the 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon) were completely sold out. By 1:45PM, all of the races for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend were unavailable, with some guests still in the virtual waiting room, unable to get the chance to register.

All of the races and the challenges were sold out a little over an hour after the site opened for registration. Keep following AllEars for the latest Disney news and information!

  1. No, we were unable to register. Tried as soon as general registration opened, but all races were unavailable.

Is there a waiting room, or any other way to enter the race, besides virtual race? Please advise. Thank you.

  2. My husband tried to get into the race with his friend. They are both a part of my team triumph in Wisconsin which allows disabled athletes to experience the joy of racing. Unfortunately they were not able to get a spot. They have been looking forward to this race for years and would really like a chance to participate. My husband would be pushing our friend in the dopey challenge in a race wheelchair. If there is any way to get them into the race we would really appreciate it as it’s a great opportunity for them to participate in this amazing challenge.

  3. Sold out before I could fill in info for all 3 family members. Shameful part is I was in queue since the original registration start and skipped my own spot in queue with another device I tried after the new registration time.
