General Registration Open for the 2023 Walt Disney World Marathon — But With Some Technical Difficulties

Every year since 1994, runners have come from all over to participate in the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (with the exception of the 2021 event, which was virtual). The next event, scheduled for January 5th to January 8th next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the weekend!

Since the event started in the 1994, the theme for the 2023 Marathon Weekend is 90s! Early-bird registration began on April 12th for Club runDisney Gold and Platinum members, and today, registration begins for another group!

General registration for the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend began today, April 19th, at 10AM EST. Participants will be able to register for any of the races including the 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, or any of the challenges.

Unfortunately, some individuals trying to register for these races hit a road block this morning as the runDisney site has gone down. Guests were getting this screen saying that the site is being worked on and to try again later.

At 10:37AM, there was a message saying that the issues are being worked on and that guests hoping to register for the races should remain in the queue until the site is back up and running. There is currently no timeline on when the site will be available again.

UPDATE: As of 12:15PM, the runDisney website message now says that registration for these events will begin at 12:30PM, a full two and a half hours after they were scheduled to begin. For individuals who are in the waiting room, it advises you not to refresh your webpage, and to just remain as you are.

If you are able to register for the races, pricing for the events are as follows:

5K:

• $103.40 if purchased before September 19th
• $114.06 if purchased between September 20th and December 19th

10K:

• $146.04 if purchased before September 19th
• $156.70 if purchased between September 20th and December 19th

Half Marathon:

• $213.20 if purchased before September 19th
• $223.86 if purchased between September 20th and December 19th

Marathon:

• $218.53 if purchased before September 19th
• $229.19 if purchased between September 20th and December 19th

Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge

This challenge consists of both the half marathon and the full marathon. Participants who complete the challenge will receive a finisher medal for both races, along with a special medal for the Goofy Challenge. Pricing is as follows:

• $431.73 if purchased before September 19th
• $442.39 if purchased between September 20th and December 19th

Dopey Challenge

This challenge is for runners who want to complete all four events over Marathon Weekend: the 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon. Those who register for and complete the Dopey Challenge will receive a finisher medal for all four races, plus the Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge medal, and a Dopey Challenge medal. Pricing is as follows:

• $660.92 if purchased before September 19th
• $671.58 if purchased between September 20th and December 19th
