Disney is always getting into the holiday spirit with their sweet treats around the parks — but today D23 is serving up a fun new recipe that you can make at home!
This recipe shared by D23 is for a fun, Mickey-shaped Kwanzaa appetizer that can have a sweet or savory twist depending on your taste buds!
We’ve got all the details you need to make this recipe at home below!
For a sweet appetizer, you will need:
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp sea salt
- 2 tsp coconut oil
- Maple syrup or honey
- Candied walnuts
- Dried cranberries
- Large sweet potato
For a savory appetizer, you will need:
- 2 tsp olive oil
- Sea salt flakes
- Goat cheese
- Dried cranberries
- Roasted walnuts
- Large sweet potato
For both appetizers, you will need a Mickey-shaped cookie cutter!
Follow the directions below:
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
- Wash the sweet potato, and peel the skin if you prefer. Slice sweet potato into ¼” thick rounds. If using Mickey cookie cutter, cut into shapes now.
- For the sweet version, mix cinnamon and coconut oil in a bowl and toss sweet potatoes to coat. For the savory version, toss sweet potatoes in olive oil.
- Place on greased baking sheet and sprinkle with salt. Cook for 10 minutes, then flip and bake for an additional 8 minutes or until browned.
- Serve the slices with your choice of either sweet or savory toppings!
