Hurricane Elsa is continuing to approach Central Florida and news is coming by the hour about the nature of the storm.

While previously downgraded to a tropical storm, Elsa has been upgraded once again.

The Orlando Sentinel has reported that as Hurricane Elsa continues to ravage the western coast of Florida and make its way towards Central Florida, the storm has picked up speed, reaching a consistent 75 mph wind speed. This has prompted Hurricane Elsa to be recategorized as a Category 1 Hurricane.

Although the current projected path does not have Elsa passing directly over Orlando or Disney World, the Orlando area has significant risks for flooding, tornadoes, and heavy rains with its peak on the morning of Wednesday, July 7th due to Hurricane Elsa being nearby.

Following the storm’s full landfall early on Wednesday morning, the storm will begin to slow down, hopefully minimizing damage as the storm continues up the East Coast. As the situation is updated we will continue to keep you updated on how the hurricane could impact your Disney World or Universal trip.
