With so many changes to face mask policies taking place at Disney World lately, it can be hard to keep things straight. This is especially true with outdoor attractions, like outdoor theaters, which fall into a blurry area.
Since Disney World changed its mask policies in a major way, no longer requiring them outdoors, it left guests wondering whether or not this applied to outdoor theaters. Initially masks were still required there, but things continue to change quickly around the parks.
When face masks became optional outdoors in Disney World, they were initially still required on all attractions, on transportation, and anywhere indoors, including restaurants. This included all theaters, both outdoors and indoors.
However, just yesterday, there came yet another tweak, as Disney updated its website to specify that masks are required at indoor theaters in particular.
The language now suggests that outdoor theaters are now a mask-optional zone, just like other outdoor spaces at Disney.
Today, we stopped by the Feathered Friends Flight show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to scope out the mask scene.
There are still certain rows blocked off in the theater to maintain distancing for guests.
However, we noticed that many guests did not have their masks on, now that the theater was included in the new outdoor space regulations.
Masks are still optional for those attending, but no longer required. Guests must wear their masks going into the theater, but once they are seated, the masks can come off.
Still, more guests have been able to sit in open rows, similar to the Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
We also checked out the America Gardens Theatre in EPCOT, and it was the same as Animal Kingdom. Even though it was much less crowded here , guests are no longer required to wear masks while enjoying Mariachi Cobre or the Voices of Liberty.
We’ll have to keep an eye on the other outdoor theaters around Disney World, as well as additional health and safety regulations moving forward. In the meantime, stay tuned with All Ears for the latest Disney entertainment and news!
