We all have that one person in our Disney World travel party who’s the designated over-packer. Maybe that over-packer is YOU! There’s absolutely no shame in bringing everything but the kitchen sink to Disney World (and, depending on where you eat, you may actually encounter a Kitchen Sink during your trip… so no need to pack one).

But we wanted to help potentially lighten your load on your next vacation.
If you’re looking to slim down and carry the bare essentials, we have five items that you’ll want to make sure you include in your pockets or (much smaller) park bag.
If you could only bring five items to the parks with you, what should you bring? For the purposes of this challenge, any items that you can wear on your person won’t count toward the total. (MagicBands or hair ties won’t count since you can wear those on your wrist, and you can also wear sunglasses on your head when they aren’t being used — those are freebies for our purposes.)
Your phone
This first one is pretty obvious. You’ll need your phone for a lot in Disney World these days, from Mobile Order to checking ride wait times to newer features like Walk-Up Wait List. Basically, My Disney Experience is going to be your best friend on vacation (not to mention all the photos you’ll be taking!). You can even skip the wallet and slide your ID and credit card into your phone case!Â

A portable phone charger
Since your phone is used for so much in the parks these days, you’ll need a portable charger to make sure your phone doesn’t die on you before lunch time! You can either purchase a portable charger ahead of time, or you can get a FuelRod at Disney and swap your charger at one of their many stations.

Lipstick or lip balm
Whether you need to touch up your makeup or you want to keep your lips moisturized, lipstick or lip balm is a must-have for many guests! This is especially true these days when you may notice your lips drying out quicker than normal thanks to your face mask. These super compact items won’t take up much space at all in your pocket or bag. Spring for one with SPF to protect your lips from the Florida sun, too!

Sunscreen
Sunscreen is one of the most important items you can bring with you to Disney World, so this is totally included as one of the five items you’ll bring with you to the parks! Luckily, you likely won’t need to carry a giant bottle or tube with you — just a small travel size container will do for one day in the parks! You can pack multiple travel size sunscreens with you, or bring one large bottle and refill a smaller container throughout the week. But definitely do NOT skip on the sunscreen!

Your choice!
The fifth item…is totally up to you! Each guest is different and will have different needs or preferences when packing their park bag. Maybe you have a larger wallet that you would like to bring with you, or you want to bring a reusable water bottle. Maybe these days, you feel more comfortable bringing your own hand sanitizer (dispensers are plentiful around the parks but some people like to have their own!). Finally, it might be a good idea to make your fifth item an extra face mask (this is recommended especially if you’re traveling in the summer).

If you stick to these five essential items, you may find that you don’t have to bring so much to the parks with you, allowing you to enjoy the parks with a much lighter weight on your shoulders!

I have a Loungefly backpack for Personal stuff. But we will have a Big Backpack for my Son: Sippy cups, Juice, Shakes, Water, Pedialyte. Snacks. Plus extra Pull ups and Wipes. May b his Swim diaper to play around at Splash pad. Water shoes for him. Xtra Masks, I will bring a Card holder instead of my Huge wallet.
Going off my most used items on my last trip – rain jacket, sunscreen, body glide (I put it on my face! My skin was super irritated and the mask was making it worse. Body glide solved the problem!), phone charger, and sandals! Both times I got soaked my sneakers would not dry and I had to buy sandals….twice! It’s forever a backpack for me lol
Fanny packs are out of style everywhere except Disney World! Each member of our party will wear a fanny pack to carry their own stuff. Looped through the belt is a water bottle holder on one side, and a mesh pouch for a poncho for the inevitable rainy afternoon on the other. It all keeps our hands free and no one has to lug around a backpack all day.
I’m in the fanny pack club! I simply can’t imagine why anyone would want to lug around a backpack and constantly have to take it off and on all day? Why would you ever need that much stuff at a theme park unless you had a baby with you? Do these people take big hiking backpacks to the mall I wonder? Do they think they might have to stay overnight? I like to be as hands free as possible.
