NEWS: California Governor Comments on When Mask Mandates May Change

There has been a lot changing in regards to mask mandates both inside and outside of the Disney parks since the CDC announced their new guidance last Thursday.

New Disney Face Mask

The new recommendations no longer require that fully vaccinated people wear face masks in most indoor settings and outside, so we’ve seen theme parks and local governments begin removing their mask requirements. And, now we have an update from the California Governor, Gavin Newsom, on how he plans to relax mask mandates.

According to KRON 4, Newsom has announced that he will wait to lift the current mask mandate for the state for fully vaccinated people until at least June 15th when more updates to covid-19 policies will be announced.

So, it still may be a little while before we see face mask policies change in Disneyland and other California theme parks, but a capacity increase may be coming soon. Last week, during the DisneylandForward Conference, Disney shared that Orange County (where Disneyland is located) is expected to lower into the Yellow Tier in just a few days on May 19th. If this is the case then the parks would be able to increase capacity to 35% from its current 25%.

Governor Newsom has shared that he will be updating current health and safety policies and move to reopen the state on June 15th, so we will continue to keep an eye out for updates. Be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
