We are sad to report that actress Helen McCrory, known for her role as Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter Series, has passed away.
The actress lost her battle with cancer at the age of 52.
Helen McCrory’s husband, actor Damian Lewis, tweeted that the actress had died “peacefully at home after a ‘heroic battle’ with cancer.”
Helen McCrory was perhaps best known for playing Aunt Polly in the BBC drama Peaky Blinders. She was most recently seen in His Dark Materials, where she voiced Stelmaria, as well as Roadkill in which she played Prime Minister Dawn Ellison.
Her television credits also include MotherFatherSon, Fearless, and Penny Dreadful. McCrory has also appeared as Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as well as appearing in Skyfall, Hugo, and The Queen.
Helen McCrory had won many awards over her career including a BAFTA Cymru Award for Streetlife in 1995 and a Broadcasting Press Guild prize in 2001 for North Square. She also earned a Critics Choice Television Awards nomination for her role in Penny Dreadful. Our thoughts are with her family during this time.
