Disney World Set to Host a National Spelling Bee!

Another big event coming to Disney World has been announced and will be available to be viewed on national broadcasts!

This competition will be taking place this summer at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex…but it’s probably not the type of event you’re thinking of.

While it is going to be a competition, these finals are going to look a little different than say, Disney World hosting the end of the NBA season last year. This time, they’re hosting…

…a spelling bee! After forgoing last year’s Bee due to concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic, Scripps National Spelling Bee has announced they will be returning this year and hosting in-person finals on July 8th at Disney World.

This year, the preliminary, quarterfinal, and semifinal rounds will all be completed in the weeks prior to the final competition. The in-person finals are being limited to 12 spellers maximum out of consideration for the health and safety of all participants and family members, and will also be broadcast live on ESPN2.
