Well, do we have some excellent and ogre-based news for you today!
As Universal fans, we here at AllEars wholeheartedly recognize the monumental impact that Shrek has had on films and, well, life in general. Now, Shrek has gotten the national and historic recognition that we always knew he deserved.
The Library of Congress just announced the induction of Shrek into the National Film Registry — oh, and some other films (like Blues Brothers!), but mostly Shrek.
DreamWorks Animation is honored for Shrek to be inducted into the Library of Congress National Film Registry for 2020. We couldn't be happier for Shrek to join the ranks of some of the most moving, transformative, and important films around the world. #NatFilmRegistry pic.twitter.com/F6z1hKxIuZ

Uh, duh! Shrek is all of those things! Films have to be 10 years old to be added to the list, so Shrek has been eligible for almost a decade. It’s about time the Library of Congress got their heads out of the swamp and brought perhaps the most culturally significant film of the 21st century it’s due.
Or maybe I’m just a little too into Shrek, but you can’t deny it’s a bit of a zeitgeist in modern film culture! Universal Orlando Resort had a pretty spot-on response to the news.
That feeling when the Library of Congress inducts you into the National Film Registry because they finally recognize your cultural, historic, and aesthetic importance to our nation's film heritage. pic.twitter.com/iNJMoMhD3K

Plus, it’s just good? Like the perfect movie to watch any night of the week? Whether you need a laugh or a cry? Do other people really not feel this way? Anyways, here’s a pic of me with the most recent National Film Registry inductee himself (with Fiona and babe!).
So, a well-deserved spot on the list of one of the most prestigious collections of films in the world? That’ll do, Donkey, that’ll do.
Are you glad Shrek received this prestigious induction? Tell us in the comments!
