Iwaju means “The Future” in the Yoruba language, and it also happens to be the title of the new series by Walt Disney Studios. The company teamed up with Kugali, a Pan-African entertainment company, to create a science fiction series coming to Disney+. The series is set in Lagos and will venture to “deep themes of class, innocence and challenging the status quo”. You can see a sneak peek of the artwork in Disney’s tweet below!

The new series will debut in 2022. So much more content is coming to Disney+ including the premiere of Raya and the Last Dragon and the live-action remake of Pinocchio. Other new animated series will be based on Moana, Zootopia, Big Hero 6, and Princess and the Frog.
