As Christmas rolls around, we’ve been binging our favorite holidays movies back-to-back!

Although The Muppet Christmas Carol has become a classic for all ages to enjoy, the movie is getting a few changes that will make fans super happy!
As a mini Christmas miracle, the song “When Love Has Gone” has been added back into the film! You might remember that the number was originally written and filmed for The Muppet Christmas Carol as an anti-love ballad, according to Nerdist.

The song details Ebenezer Scrooge’s past love that has faded, talking about heartbreak. The then chairman of Disney Jeffrey Katzenberg thought “When Love Has Gone” was too “sophisticated emotionally” for children, so Brian Henson (Jim Henson’s son and director of The Muppet Christmas) ultimately had to cut it.

However, “When Love Has Gone” did appear on the original VHS release of the film. After it was cut, though, the song was misplaced so it disappeared from the archives. The good news is that the footage of the song has been found again so it can be reinstated in the movie for the 4K release of The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Henson was thrilled that the song was found, when he noted to the BBC that “I was so excited. They actually hid it… so I went down and they said: ‘But before we show it to you, we’ve got something else we want to show you’. And they put up reel four of Christmas Carol with ‘When Love Is Gone.’ I was like, ‘No, you did not!’ and they said, ‘Yes we did! We found it!’ I was so happy, I was so happy.”
We can’t wait to watch the full movie again when the song is added back into The Muppet Christmas Carol soon! We’ll keep you updated with all the other Disney entertainment you can expect to see too!

I did not realize that it had been cut! I grew up watching it exclusively on VHS, so I’ve never seen a version without it! This song has always been one of my favorites, even as a child, and it ended up meaning so much to me when I was older.
