The live-action remake of The Lion King released in 2019 and featured superstars like Beyonce and Donald Glover.

Fans of the remake now have something to look forward to! The live-action movie is getting a sequel! And, we already know who will direct the feature film.
Deadline announced that Barry Jenkins, who won Best Picture for Moonlight, will direct the sequel to The Lion King. Jeff Nathanson, who scripted the first Lion King, has returned to write the initial draft of the sequel too.

According to Deadline’s sources, the plot may revolve around Mufasa’s origin story and mythology of the characters, prior to The Lion King. The film will also use the same photo-realistic technology that was used in the first film and the live-action version of The Jungle Book. No release date or cast confirmations have been announced yet.
