This is even bigger than the Big Three, everyone!

While there have been a few adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians over the years in film and Broadway musical formats, nothing has really crafted the story to mirror the plots and characters of the books well. That is, until now.
Rick Riordan, the author of the Percy Jackson books published by Disney-Hyperion, has confirmed that a series for Disney+ is in production according to Entertainment Weekly.

Pinch us, we’re dreaming! Riordan said in a statement that “We can’t say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one.”

Riordan will be involved in each stage of the process to ensure that fans everywhere will be able to watch the novels they know and love come to life. In case you don’t know what Percy Jackson and the Olympians is about, the novels revolve around a young demigod who trains at Camp Half-Blood with prophecies looming over him as he grows older. The books incorporate all kinds of Greek mythology, from Medusa to The Odyssey and all the famous gods, demigods, and creatures that you’ve only dreamed about.

So, think Hercules but with more action, thrills, and twists (plus, some of the best humor a Young Adult book series has ever had). We are so excited to see what Disney+ will do with the novels! Anybody up for a feast at the Big House to celebrate?

It HAS to be better than the movies. Those movies were so disappointing. The books are great and so popular.
Personally I’m not into it, but my sons will be thrilled! They have read all the novels and were upset at the abrupt ending to the production of the films.
