Earlier this month, Disney announced that they would be furloughing all “non-essential” cast members of Disney World and Disneyland, along with other employees across various divisions of the Walt Disney Company.

Due to the amount of furloughed workers, Florida’s unemployment website has been overloaded and unable to process the amount of requests coming in, leading to furloughed Disney World Cast Members were doing stay-at-home protests.
Today, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was asked about the issues newly furloughed theme park workers from Disney and Universal Studios were having accessing the unemployment website. At a press conference, DeSantis mentioned that the state was “open” to the idea of auto-enrolling furloughed Disney World Cast Members into the state’s unemployment system.

DeSantis did clarify that, if the auto-enrollment were to take place, “they wouldn’t get any special place in line, whoever has applied is going to go through that way, but I think when you know you’re going to have a massive amount of people from one employer and that’s announced, if you can work with them to get that information and get it through the system, I think that that will probably be better for everyone.”
