We hope you weren’t planning on getting soaked during your visit to Walt Disney World in early 2020 because two major water rides are closing for annual refurbishments.
Starting on January 6th, Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Splash Mountain at the Magic Kingdom will be shut down for their annual refurbishments. Read on for the details, including when these rides are expected to reopen.
Guests visiting Animal Kingdom will be short an E-Ticket Ride for quite a while, as Kali River Rapids is not set to reopen until March 21st.  A refurbishment will hopefully resolve some of the broken water effects and address other issues to give the ride a fresh new look.
Over at Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain is also set to close on January 6th, with a reopening scheduled for February 27th.Â
We’ve known about this one for a while, so it makes sense Kali River Rapids is closing at roughly the same time. Disney likes to save its big water ride closings for the slower winter months, where crowds are light and the weather is a bit too nippy to justify getting soaked to the bone. We’re not expecting any huge changes here, but we’ll keep you updated if Disney announces anything big.
You can keep track of when your favorite attractions will be open with our refurbishment and closure tracking tool, so be sure to check it out if you’re planning a vacation in the next few months!
Will these closures affect your vacation plans? Let us know what you think in the comments, and we’ll see you soon!
