The Matterhorn Bobsleds is a classic Disneyland attraction that draws its inspiration from bobsledders in the Swiss Alps. For the next week, though, Matterhorn will be closed for repairs on weekdays, so riders will have to look elsewhere for thrills.
The ride was closed this past week — Monday through Friday — but is set to open today for the weekend. Disneyland has announced that the Matterhorn Bobsleds will be closing once again October 28 through November 1, with plans to reopen for next weekend as well.
Though Disney has not given a specific reason for these closures, they are possibly linked to an incident on August 8 during which part of the rock facade on the side of the mountain fell, causing one side of the tracks to close for the day. No one was injured, but it seems the ride could use some touching up.
Regular operations are expected to resume on November 2.
