What is Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort (DHHIR)?
Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort is a Disney Vacation Club resort property located in South Carolina. It opened to guests in 1996 and consists of two parcels: the main resort located on Longview Island, and Disney's Beach House on the Atlantic Coast. The 102-unit resort was designed in the style of a 1940's low-country hunting and fishing lodge. The resort consists of Studios, One and Two Bedroom Vacation Homes and Three Bedroom Grand Villas.

Big Murggie's Den lies just across from the reception desk and is a quiet place to relax with a game of pool or to meet other guests. Live Oak Lodge also houses several vacation home units, including accessible rooms for guests with disabilities.
Can I rent rooms at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort or do I have to be a member of Disney's Vacation Club (DVC)?
As with all the Disney Vacation Club resorts, anyone can rent rooms or suites at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, subject to availability. You do NOT have to be a member of the DVC.

Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort is located on Longview Island, which is part of Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
What are the different room options?
The units include Studios, One and Two-Bedroom Vacation Homes and Three-Bedroom Grand Villas.
The Studio Vacation Homes come with one queen-size bed and a double sleeper sofa. Up to four adults plus one child under age three in a crib can be accommodated. There is a wet bar with under-counter refrigerator, microwave oven and coffeemaker, ceiling fan, color cable television, and private porch. Each unit also includes a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. The average Studio is 375 square feet.
The One-Bedroom Vacation Homes accommodate up to five adults plus one child under age 3 in a crib. They have a master suite, bathroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen, mud room and private porch with a picnic table and two rocking chairs. The master suite has a king-size bed, ceiling fan and color television. The master closet has a small safe for valuables. The private bath is split into two rooms; one with a sink and whirlpool tub, the other with a sink, toilet and shower. There is a door between the two rooms. The mud room has a bench and coat hooks on the wall and also houses the stack-style washer and dryer. The living room includes a queen-size sleeper sofa, one twin-size sleeper chair, ceiling fan and color cable television with DVD player. Each unit also includes a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. The average One-Bedroom Vacation Home is 800 square feet.
The Two-Bedroom Vacation Homes sleep nine adults plus one child under age three in a crib. Some of the Two-Bedroom Vacation Homes are dedicated (entities unto themselves) and some are "lockouts" meaning a one-bedroom and a studio are combined for a two-bedroom. There is a master suite, bathroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen, mud room and private porch with a picnic table and two rocking chairs. The master suite has a king-size bed, ceiling fan and color television. The master closet has a small safe for valuables. The private bath is split into two rooms; one with a sink and whirlpool tub, the other with a sink, toilet and shower. There is a door between the two rooms. The mud room has a bench and coat hooks on the wall and also houses the stack-style washer and dryer. The second bedroom has two queen beds. The living room includes a queen-size sleeper sofa, one twin-size sleeper chair, ceiling fan and color cable television with DVD player. Each unit also includes a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. The average Two-Bedroom Vacation Home is 1,255 square feet.
The Three-Bedroom Grand Villas can accommodate up to 12 adults, plus one child under three in a crib. They are on two levels and have a master suite, bathroom, living room, and fully equipped kitchen on the first level. There are two private porches, one with a picnic table and two rocking chairs off of the living room and one accessible only from the master suite. The second level includes two bedrooms, each with two queen size beds and two full bathrooms. The average Three-Bedroom Grand Villa is 2,125 square feet.

Where do I check in?
You check in at the Front Desk in Live Oak Lodge.
What time is Check-In/Check-out?
Check-In is 4:00 pm and Check-out is 11:00 am. You will be allowed to check in earlier if your room is ready when you arrive. If your room is not ready, you can leave your bags with Bell Services and go off exploring.
Are there nonsmoking rooms?
As of June 1, 2007, all Disney resorts and guest rooms are now smoke-free. There are designated outdoor smoking areas. Check the resort map or with a Cast Member for locations. A $250-$500 room recovery fee, plus tax, will be charged for smoking in Guest Rooms, on balconies or porches.
What are the restaurants like?
DHHIR does not have a table-service restaurant, but does have two counter service facilities, Tide Me Over located adjacent to Broad Creek Mercantile at the main complex, and Signals, located at Disney's Beach House, along with Surfman's Sand Bar. The hours vary seasonally.
Tide Me Over serves breakfast fare during morning hours and sandwiches and burgers the rest of the day. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and a limited selection of adult beverages are also available. DHHIR has its own refillable mug program with refills for the length
of your stay.
Signals serves sandwiches, snacks and beverages. Refillable mugs are available for purchase and refill here also.
Surfman's Sand Bar features cold beer and mixed drinks as well as smoothies and other non-alcoholic beverages. A small selection of beach supplies and sundries are also available here.
On Tuesdays from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Disney's Beach House hosts a seasonal meal, either Edmund’s Family Low-Country Boil or a Star-Spangled BBQ.
There are sevaral restaurants located within walking distance at Shelter Harbor adjacent to Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. There are also many restaurants within a short drive, including numerous popular chain establishments. Your check-in information will include a Portable Perks book that lists the restaurants that give 10%-20% discounts to DHHIR guests.
Are refillable mugs available at the Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort?
Yes! Both Tide Me Over and Signals sell a Length of Stay refillable mug. You can refill it with coffee or soda at either location.
What is the gift shop like?
Broad Creek Mercantile is located in the center of the main complex near the pool. Here you will find Logo merchandise for the Disney Vacation Club, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and, believe it or not, WDW! They also stock a limited selection of swimwear, books, sundries, suncare, candy, snacks and grocery items. There is also a small library of DVDs for rental, free for DVC members.
What is the pool like?
There are two pools, the Big Dipper (with Little Dipper children's pool) at the main complex and one at Disney's Beach House. The Big Dipper has a water slide. There is a heated spa (hot tub) at the main complex and a pool building with lockers and restrooms. There are towels at each pool for use at the pool and beach.
What types of recreational options do I have?
Just like at the other DVC resorts, there are many activities available. Your check-in information will include an information sheet listing each day's schedule. Some activities are free and some require an additional fee. There are activities geared for families, kids and teens, such as Dolphin Tours, campfires, Geo Caching, kayaking and movies under the stars.
Broad Creek Rentals has bicycles and recreation equipment for rent, including fishing poles and bait, crab nets, and other gaming supplies.
Bend and Stretch Exercise Room is a small fitness facility with exercise equipment and free-weights. Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort guests (age 14 and older) can use the fitness center at no additional charge for the duration of their stay. A parent or legal guardian must accompany children under 17.
What about the beach?
The beach is 1.3 miles from the main resort complex. Disney's Beach House provides amenities there, with restrooms, showers, changing rooms, sun deck and pool, snack bar, bar, game arcade, large screen television and recreational facilities. There is a free shuttle bus that operates every 30 minutes. There is also parking available for DHHIR guests. You will need to show your parking pass or resort ID in order to be allowed access in your vehicle. The beach itself is hard packed sand and not very comfortable. Umbrellas and beach chairs are available for rental. You may see dolphins, pelicans and other wildlife.
How do I get to Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort?
Take I-95 to Exit 8, 278 East. Cross Hilton Head Island Bridge. Take 278 for 8 miles to the traffic light for Shelter Cove Harbor. Turn right. Follow the signs to the resort. Stop at the resort gate and push the button for the intercom. Tell them you are checking in and proceed to Live Oak Lodge after gate opens.
