One of my past favorites did not disappoint this time around! The theme and fun of this restaurant can't be beat and the servers really get into character!

I had the special which was a braised pork shank with mashed potatoes. Outstanding choice and our waitress said it was relatively new. Would highly recommend that and the chocolate peanut butter cake was insanely good!

Pros:

Atmosphere, service, overall fun factor

Cons:

Reservations ran a little behind

Had a couple of quick dinners here. I had fish and chips one night, cajun chicken sandwich the other. Fish that was pictured on the menu board looked like fresh catfish pieces but was just standard white fish. Tasty and a good portion size. Cajun chicken sandwich was juicy and flavorful but could have used a bit more spice.

Fiance had the create your own pasta which she really enjoyed and the pulled pork sandwich which she said was just alright. We both appreciated the variety of choices besides the standard burgers and chicken nuggets.

Get the apple blossom for dessert! The crust was tender and flaky while the apple filling had good texture and wasn't too sweet. Had we eaten here more we probably would have continued to pick that as our DDP dessert every time.

Many guests appeared to get the large pizzas to go but we heard from some of our neighbors that it was just mediocre and should be avoided. I would tend to agree since Chicago-style pizza is able to deliver to the resort.

Be prepared for some craziness, we had a huge crowd to deal with even when we arrived after 8:30 pm. Wasn't too long of a wait, just be aware after a long day in the parks when you may be short on patience.

Pros:

Fast service, great variety, apple blossoms

Cons:

Very busy late into the evenings, unruly kids in dining area

Review of Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe

Having eaten here before the new menu was a nice change of pace from the typical burgers and chicken options that most QS places have. I got a spicy beef rice bowl (the beef was not spicy even after I added some hot sauce) and my fiance got a chicken fajita platter. We both agreed that the chicken was much tastier than the beef, but the beef was tender and flavorful. (I eat a lot of chicken at home so I tried to pick different options this trip). My bowl had plenty of rice, black beans and beef. Her platter had plenty of chicken, grilled onions and peppers plus some tortillas. The fixin's bar did not disappoint as there were plenty of options to customize your meal.

It was very hot and humid so being able to choose the strawberry lemonade slush for my drink on the dining plan was a great option. We both agreed that my churros and chocolate dipping sauce were vastly superior to her sopapillas. As per usual the QS dessert options weren't the best but we would have skipped it had we not been on the DDP.

Seating was not the greatest. Pecos Bill's is very busy and finding a seat, especially on a hot day, was not easy. Didn't help that several groups got up from their tables and left huge messes for CMs to clean up. I know it's their job but when things are that busy just have some common courtesy for your fellow guests.

Pros:

New menu is refreshing for QS, large portions

Cons:

Lack of seating

Review of San Angel Inn Lunch/Dinner

Wonderful dining experience all the way around. We had a quiet table near the boat ride and temple and the dark lighting made for a very intimate atmosphere. Our server was so kind and courteous, a real credit to this location. Chips and salsa, both red and green, were fresh and plentiful. We both ordered margaritas, served on the rocks, and they were smooth and flavorful. I had the Wild Passionfruit while my fiance had the San Angel margarita. Worth every penny after a long day at the parks.

I had the Mole Poblano which was wonderful. The chicken was tender and the rice was cooked perfectly. The mole itself was rich and complex, certainly a great example of what that sauce can be. Fiance had the Combinación Mexicana and she was extremely satisfied. Both portions were huge, so come with a big appetite!

We would likely have skipped dessert normally but I chose the crema bavaria. It was light and had a pleasant note of cinnamon, not too heavy after our large meal. Fiance went with the Pastel de Queso con Cajeta which was rich and creamy.

The only negative thing I can even remotely think of is that we showed up at 8:00 for our 8:30 reservation and they wouldn't let us check in until 8:15, which is totally understandable. We rode the boat ride to kill the time and it worked out perfectly.

I would rate this location higher than a 10 if I could, it was that amazing. Maybe not the best choice for small kids but older kids and grown ups will love it!

Pros:

Huge portions, atmosphere, chips and salsa, margaritas

Cons:

None

Review of Chef Mickey's Brunch

Our experience started as breakfast but ended as brunch. Waited quite a while after we checked in for our 10:30 am reservation, we were not seated until after 11 am. Plenty of Mickey waffles, crispy bacon and other choices for breakfast. Loved the fact that they switched to brunch around 11:30. Enjoyed the chicken nuggets which tasted freshly prepared, not frozen. Mac & cheese looked great but was a big disappointment, tasted like buttered noodles and had very little cheese flavor. Fiance enjoyed the salmon and there were plenty of new desserts and the ice cream machine was available after the brunch change. Made myself a Mickey waffle sundae which was incredible.

Normally would be a bit pricey, character meet and photo ops aren't big deals for us since we don't have kids yet, but was a great value on DDP. Would definitely come again if we could get the breakfast/brunch time slot!

Pros:

Variety of choices, Mickey waffles, Rice Krispy Treats with Froot Loops!

Cons:

Long wait after checking in (30+ minutes), mac & cheese

Review of Boma Flavors of Africa Dinner - Jambo House

The experience here blew my expectations out of the water, in a good way! I'm a picky eater and I found plenty of choices to keep me satisfied. The kokonut rice was an amazing side and the chicken wings were crispy and delicious even without any sauce. My only complaint was the ribs which were a bit tough and the sauce they were cooked in was not a traditional barbecue sauce. It was not what I was expecting and something about the sauce threw me off.

The breads and desserts were all wonderful. Get the Zebra Domes and thank me later! My fiance said she enjoyed the soups and salads which were plentiful. Great service and I was able to get the Jungle Juice for my drink! We will definitely be back next trip!

Took Uber from Port Orleans Riverside to and from dinner which was extremely convenient. Had some free credits to use for Uber but the drivers we had said that Disney welcomes their presence. Consider using it if you are in a hurry or need to get from one resort to another quickly.

Pros:

Variety of choices, kokonut rice, desserts

Cons:

Ribs

Review of Tusker House Character Breakfast

Tusker House breakfast is pretty straight forward: standard breakfast fare, a small number of African-inspired dishes, and characters in safari-themed outfits. I could not get enough of the Jungle Juice, it is a delicious blend that I'm going to attempt to make at home. I have eaten here before and I was disappointed to see that there was no bread pudding this time. Maybe just bad luck on our day but still wish it was available. A great choice if you can get your reservation before the park's regular opening. Puts you right in the middle of Africa so you can hit up the safari or Lion King show immediately afterwards.

Pros:

Jungle Juice, all your breakfast standards

Cons:

Few unique African items, no bread pudding

Review of Chef Mickey's Breakfast

We’ve attended several character buffets, but this was our first breakfast buffet and first time at Chef Mickey’s and it was great. There was a multitude of choices, including a “kid’s buffet”. Our server was super friendly and explained the set up and made sure we always had refills on our beverages. The food was constantly being replenished and was served at the appropriate temperature, except for the fruit, it tasted like it was recently frozen. The characters just stopped by long enough for a picture and it’s very loud, but all the kids seem to be having a good time.

Pros:

Character, food choices, service

Cons:

Very loud

We really enjoyed our dinner, the characters were interactive and spent time at the table chatting. Our server was excellent and kept checking on us and did a great job explaining the food and answering all our questions. I had the chicken and polenta and both were good, my husband had the pork and also enjoyed his food. The flourless cake tasted more like a brownie, but that was ok. It’s a little pricey for the food quality, but the experience makes up the difference.

Pros:

Characters and service

Cons:

Expensive

Review of Gasparilla Island Grill

Left Magic Kingdom to get away from the crowds and have lunch here after I did my research and found the menu for Gasparilla Island Grill. Knew I had to try the Grand Gaspy burger and it did not disappoint. The burger with the cheddar and pulled pork was incredible. It was the only burger I had all week but I know this would have been the best even if I had tried others. Came with a side of homemade chips which were crisp and seasoned well. Fiance had the chef's special which was a cajun salmon sandwich. We were both blown away by the quality of food for a QS location. Easily the best QS we have experienced.

Usually the desserts for QS were standard and just ok. Here the cupcakes were something very special! I went with the lemon blueberry while my fiance had German chocolate. Both had moist cakes with plentiful toppings, some of the best desserts we had on our trip. We also brought along our Rapid Refill mugs so we could grab a bottled drink for our DDP credit.

Definitely worth the trip if you are staying at or near Grand Floridian if you need a QS meal that is of a higher caliber. We enjoyed the calm, quiet setting after being at Magic Kingdom all morning. Certainly will be back in the future!

Pros:

Best QS location in WDW, fresh food, cupcakes

Cons:

A little off the beaten path unless staying at resort
