We have stayed at POR 3 times now and this time we really used the food court. We were on the DP. We had mugs that we used for hot cocoa or coffee in the morning. The hot cocoa is burning hot so a tip would be to add some creamer to the hot cocoa(right next to each other) and it will cool it a bit without watering it down. We found ourselves eating a lot of cheese Danish or cherry Danish for breakfast using a snack credit. We ate by the quiet pool by our room so DS could swim from 7-9 am. This worked since it was warm and my dad had to wait to take medicine before going to the parks. We had a couple late lunches here. We had some great soup too. Clam chowder and tomato bisque. Was able to use a snack credit for these as well. We tried create your own pasta with alfredo and different ingredients, the beef and blue sandwiches- a little heavy on the blue cheese and I love blue cheese, a bacon burger kids fish sandwich- needed some help with tartar sauce tomato onion, BBQ pork sandwich and lots of tuna sandwiches. and tons of carrot cake. That was probably the moistest cake there. The red velvet missed the mark. the cheesecake got a little soft while we ate. Overall it was a great dining experience.

Pros:

convenient good portions

Review of 'Ohana Best Friends Character Breakfast

Again a character meal but not to much character interaction quick single pic and that was it. Seemed to have to bring out lots of what we needed because they would bring such a small amount for 5 people. Mickey waffles are always nice. Juice is excellent. Some type of blend. I had the most of that. The scrambled eggs are my mom's favorite. She looks forward to them. the sausage has a different flavor so some of us like it and others do not. The potato wedges are a bit dry but plentiful. Biscuits come in the skillet too but we didn't really eat those at all. We needed a lot more bacon to make it so everyone had 2 or 3 pieces. the bread and fruit to start is minimal and hard for everyone to have some of what they like. Waitress was attentive and tried to make sure we had what we wanted. We paid OOP and for 4 adults and 1 child I believe it was $127ish before tip. Parent's paid as a early xmas present.

Probably the best character interaction of the trip but not even close to how the interaction was last trip. Overall Disney lacked magic this trip and it was a little sad. We didn't get the picture.I had been crying in MK and not feeling good right before we left to head to dinner. the meal itself was nice! The Salmon had an orange almond type of topping compared to last time but it was still yummy. I don't care for Salmon but always get it here. They had sushi this time that DS9 enjoyed. Most of us had some and pot stickers. Chicken Marsala was really good too. My mom always likes it but I don't always think it's 100% but this time it was better than last. Maybe just changing up the recipe a little helped it a lot. Desserts are mini and was am assortment. We will go back without question.

We love Boma. We had the same waiter as two years ago. It was alright this time. DS9 loves the sirloin and the watermelon tomato blue cheese salad. The soups are yummy. We had the coconut chicken curry. I have the recipe and make it here. I guess I have changed it up here and there and enjoy mine better. The sirloin was good. The ribs my dad loved me not so much. The fufu is something my husband enjoys- sweet potato and mashed potato together. the bobotie my dad had. It's an egg ground beef type dish. The ginger carrot soup was also good but make it at home too. The Durban chicken again I make at home and was the same. Desserts are bite size. Not a zebra dome fan but they're there if you like them. It was very nice the waiter brought my son a dessert out with a candle. Very few even acknowledged my son's bday. Will probably go back. Would like to try breakfast.

One of our better dinners I think. I like that it is family style so you can sit and eat and relax. Who needs another Disney line while trying to eat. The room was exceedingly loud. Not the restaurants problem, that is purely poor parenting skills at their best. It was such a difference is volume level when that party left. You couldn't even hear people at your table because this family didn't take action with the child causing a raucus. As for the food, the salad was good. Beetter than Garden grill IMO because it was dressed with a raspberry vinaigrette. It was not to light or too heavy. The rolls were yummy. We got more of all the meats potatos and stuffing. the green beans were with garlic and yummy and we finished those. MY mom really enjoyed the turkey fixings just missing cranberry. Here's a tip it turns out if you ask for cranberry they will bring it out. Apparently they throw a lot of rolls and cranberry out so they don't give ample rolls to start and don't hand out cranberry at all but it is there and it is homemade. The dessert was a cranberry cobbler. Plenty to share didn't even finish it. We'll do it next trip. Still miss the characters.

We usually go each trip. We went this time but didn't have the best experience. DS is done with kids menus due to lack of variety and size so I swapped with him. I had the kids tuna and Ds had adult fish and chips. The fish and chips here are horrible compared to EPCOT but similar to a frozen fish stick from the store. You get 3. He liked it and ate 2 out of 3 with fries. DH got the Salmon dinner with couscous and broccoli. My parent's had the shrimp platters the were 7 good sized shrimp with fries. 2 chocolate cake and 2 blueberry cobbler. Cobbler not my favorite. 4 sodas. Like that they have malt vinegar here.

Pros:

different food

Cons:

We got and ADR for 9pm. We waited a while to enter. We were seated in the ballroom but told after we ate we could walk around, take pictures and see the beast. We were seated at a huge table for 8 although we were 5. We were off to the side of the snowy window. We used our DP. DS got the steak and fries. Adults had 3 steak and fries and 1 salmon leak fondue. The Steak and fries were the same across the board. not as good as Mama Melrose. The Salmon leak fondue wasn't what my husband expected but it was good. My son got some grey stuff for his bday. We had 2 lemon meringue cupcakes, 1 strawberry and 2 chocolate. The waitress was fake nice. Fake small talk, fake pleasentries. While starting dessert we were approached by a CM saying that the beast would leave in 10 minutes and to come get your picture taken. My mom and I took my son but my dad and husband missed out. We went back to finish dessert and pay the bill. DS paid for all dinners with his band but here she said he could not and we had to sign. Not sure why she felt this way. She disappeared when my parent's needed change and we wound up being the last to leave the restaurant. We checked out the west wing. It was very small and dark. I was underwhelmed by the whole experience but my dad seemed to enjoy it.

Review of Teppan Edo - Japan

This was our first visit and it was fun but I want to mention some things that might help others that have not been. First check in is outside. they give you a buzzer and tell you when it goes off go up all these stairs outside. Which was fine but when you get to the top it has the name of the other restaurant because both are inside together. Once you go inside there is another flight of stairs. Tepan Edo is to the left. You are taken into a smaller sized room that has 4 tables. We were seated at a back table and the front table was already seated. They want you to walk on the outside of the room as to prevent injury from the hot surface and not to get in the way of the chef if he is out. Problem is there were larger people at the table seated and not all of our party could make it by even when they pushed in as far as they could. This made for the start to be awkward and stressed for me because I just wanted to have a nice time and go sit down. Instead it was a production for all adults to figure out how to make it to the table. We sat with 2 other couples. We were a party of 5. Ds had the shrimp but ate some of my steak too. DS had the swordfish and my parent's and myself had the steak and shrimp. The yum yum sauce was yummy but different than at other places . DS can eat well with chopsticks and said no thank you to a fork. She proceeded to make him"cheater chopsticks" as she described even though not necessary. It was fun but he can do it no one helps him at home. The noodles were good the rice just meh. Dessert we had the ginger chocolate cake and the green tea cheesecake. The cake was bigger. We may or may not go back based on the seating issue. Leaving wasn't so bad because there were different people at the table. The waitress was prompt and always refilled drinks without having to ask. Chef made a volcano but nothing that sticks out.

Pros:

fun to watch

Cons:

One of the two best CS we had our entire trip. We travelled Dec3-14. Went to have lunch on the DP as adults. We paid OOP for DS as the kids menu didn't appeal to him. There was plenty of food but a huge line and wait to get it. We had 2 roast beef, 1 salad, 1 fruit, and 1 Viking helmet, cheesecake. My parent's had 2 turkey sandwiches, 2 salads, 1 school bread and 1 Viking helmet. The had a choose of Blue chees or thousand island for the salad. The roast beef had too much roll and not enough carmalized onion. My son's was good but thought the bread a bit hard. We didn't get our sandwich toasted. My parent's did and enjoyed it. My mom was eager to go back a second time for lunch but didn't have a chance. Will definitely do it next trip. Not a lot of seating so probably best to go at an off time. Also the line was so long out the door it was a deterent for some and one person walked out after they placed their order.

Pros:

big sandwhiches

Cons:

long lines out door

This is a character meal that we have done before. Last time there was excellent character interaction with everyone this time it was quick and focused only on DS. I found all over Disney this to be the case. The salad used to have fresh green beans in it but not this time. The salad was really light on dressing could have used a little more. The butter balls sat in maple syrup and made things sticky. The bread was good same bread you get at Mama Melrose. The turkey had a lemon caper sauce. The beef was cooked well and the fish alright. We ordered more of the potatos, beef, and turkey and mac and cheese for DS. That was all he ate off the kids. My mom ate his chilcken leg, husband ate broccoli and everyone shared sweet potato fries. DS at the mac and cheese and beef and rolls. Dessert was a cobbler- sick of blueberry though. Not sure about coming back. While it was my dad's fave last time not sure anyone will pick it next time. Our waitress was MIA most of the time and we had a woman who appeared to be dressed more like a manager with dressier attire on bring food and drinks on occasion. This is where you question tipping.

Pros:

revolving restaurant and characters

Cons:

small round half booths not enough table space
