From all the pictures that I’ve seen of the Elephant Cupcake I thought it would be massive, but it wasn’t at all. They must have made it much smaller since those pictures were posted. When the happy lady behind the counter handed me the cupcake I wanted to say to her “I ordered the adult sized one”, but I knew full well that there wasn’t two versions. The only part about the cupcake that I liked was the Coconut. The cake and frosting parts of it tasted drier than the Sahara Desert.

Pros:

none

Cons:

Review of Anandapur Ice Cream Truck

Anandapur is always a good place to grab an ice cream. The soft serves are sooo much better than the hard versions in Disney World. They remind me of Dairy Queen‘s ice creams, which is a really really good thing. I have to get a soft serve at this place or Refreshment Port (Epcot) every single Disney trip.

I like the look of the aqua blue bus, it has so many random pictures of animals and boats on it. It sounds like it would be weird looking, but it’s actually quite beautiful. It’s positioned in a good spot in the park, a short walk from Kali and Everest. The only problem I have with this area is that there isn’t many seats nearby. Me and my family had to sit on hard stones situated near a busy restroom. But in the end it was all worth it because it kept me from melting down.

Pros:

ice cream

Cons:

seating area

Review of Tutto Italia Restaurant - Italy

We have eaten here several times and have always had a good meal with excellent service. However, this time the service was horrible. Our server was awful and uncaring. Once he put our order in, he disappeared until he brought our food out. We even had to get the manager to refill our drinks. He frequented his other tables which each had 4 guests or less. It was if he knew he already had his gratuity automatically added, so he didn't care about his lack of service. He never even came back to collect our bill! We had to go up to the manager once again and hand our bill to him and tap our bracelets to activate the dining plan. I'm pretty sure we could have walked right out the door and no one would have cared. We even mentioned our poor service to the manager, and he didn't seem to care either. I would avoid this restaurant and spend your money elsewhere. There are too many fabulous restaurants through out Disney World to waste your time here.

Pros:

Atmosphere

Cons:

service

My DH and I loved our meal at Les Chefs de France. DH ordered French Onion Soup and Vegetable Lasagna. We shared the meat platter. I ordered the beef tenderloin and we shared a creme brulee. Everything was absolutely amazing. Our server, Joffrey, was attentive and helpful. Also, we were seated by the window, so we had a partial view of Illuminations (BONUS!!). I cannot wait to eat here again.

Pros:

everything--service, food, atmosphere

Cons:

calories 😉

Review of Spice Road Table

My DH and I stopped at Spice Road table in our attempt to eat around "the world". DH ordered a dark beer. That was what it was called--Dark beer. He enjoyed it, but said that it tasted like Newcastle. We ordered the meat skewers--one chicken and one steak. Both were just good--not great, just ok. Over all, I wasn't impressed. The skewers were $12. There were 3 pieces of chicken and 1 3 inch long piece of steak. A little pricey for me, even by Disney standards. I will give it another shot, however.

Pros:

small plates

Cons:

prices, offerings

The food at the Les Halles was divine! My DH and I made this one of our stops in our attempt to eat around "the world". I forget the name of what he ordered, but it was a piece of break with sauce and cheese. MMMMM. I ordered a pastry with almond filling. DELICIOUS! It was flaky, flavorful, and not too sweet! I will absolutely return here.

Pros:

amount of offerings, delicious food

Cons:

having to choose!

My DH and I LOVE Mama Melrose's. We really enjoy the food and the atmosphere. My DH ordered the Penne a la Vodka and added chicken. YUM! It was delicious, flavorful, filling--PERFECT. I ordered the marghertia flatbread. I was pleasantly surprised. For about $13, I received a great sized pizza on flavorful crust. The sauce was great, the sun-dried tomatoes were flavorful, and the mozzarella was delicious. We are always pleased with our experience at Mama Melrose's.

food, prices, service

Review of Port Orleans Riverside Resort (Moderate Resort)

Reviewed by MVClause Review Date: 06/06/2014

My DH and I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside from May 29-June 4, 2014. There is nothing BAD about his resort, but I have a hard time finding things where Port Orleans Riverside excels. Every encounter with staff was pleasant and helpful. We did online check-in and our room was ready. Additionally, the hotel was able to honor every request!--mansion section, corner room, away from elevator, highest floor. While the mansion section of the resort was lovely, there was something about it that didn't feel like Disney to me--maybe because we are from Mississippi and the hotel does such a great job recreating the American South.

Several people have mentioned that they experience poor bus service. I have to say that we NEVER experience poor bus service. Every morning on the way to park, there was a cast member from transportation at the bus stop. The cast member was recording the frequency of and time between each bus. Service when we were returning to the park after our afternoon nap was not as efficient, but still not horrible my any means.

I enjoyed my stay at Port Orleans Riverside, but i am not dying to stay there again. I prefer the vacation atmosphere of Caribbean Beach. My husband, however, says that he loved POR and would prefer staying there over any other moderate.

I paid $61 more to stay at POR than at Carribean Beach. That was not too much to "upgrade" for me. However, if it were more than that, I would stay elsewhere.

Pros:

Cleanliness, polite staff, proximity to resort offerings

Cons:

theming

Review of Coral Reef - Lunch/Dinner

Our family dined at the Coral Reef on the last night of our vacation, May 24. We had dined there in the past with mixed reviews and we wanted to try it again. The three adults ordered lobster pasta which according to the description was to have lobster, shrimp pasta and a white cheddar sauce. It sounded pretty good. When it arrived and we began to eat it we all looked at one another. The pasta was the shell kind and was very under done. There was very little lobster and the sauce was watery and bland. Knowing I was paying $30 per plate I pushed on and ate the shrimps and scrounged for any lobster I could find. When we were finished our waitress asked if we would like to see a dessert menu. I said "no but I have to tell you this was very disappointing." She said she would bring the manager who was very polite and asked what we were dissatisfied with. She immediately volunteered to remove the three dinners from our bill and only charge us for the diet Coke and apple juice we had ordered which came to about $5. I left $20 so the waitress would still get a tip since she played no part in preparing the food. I doubt we will be coming back to the Coral Reef anytime soon.

Atmosphere

Review of Hollywood and Vine Dinner

Had an ADR for May 28. Arrived about 15 min prior to our ADR. The setup to get check-in and get in was a little confusing. We had to check-in and then get into a line immediately. The line led to pics with Chip and Dale as Ewoks. We were seated close to our ADR time. Our waitress here was far more knowledgable and friendlier than the Sci-Fi breakfast. The characters came around in a quick and orderly fashion. They were all willing to interact with the kids. We were there for about one hour and got visted by each character twice. The food was normal for Hollywood and Vine. They have the best selection for Disney buffets in my opinion. Picture taking was also a little easier than the Sci-Fi breakfast. Hollywood and Vine is well lit and there is a little more room to move around for the pics. I had to dish out this money so my kids could see these characters. In the three previous Star Wars weekend trips we have never met the Star Wars dressed Disney characters. The price was extreme, but the convenience of seeing all the characters while we ate in the A/C was close to being worth the price. I will not pay this price to do it again though. 2 adults/2 kids cost about $190 after tip.

Pros:

See all the Star Wars Disney characters

Cons:

Price
