"Classic Afternoon Tea at the Disneyland Hotel" was scheduled to begin on Friday, January 22, so I made a reservation for that day and invited my friend Kristin to join me, so we could celebrate her upcoming birthday. Tea is served from 12:00-3:00 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Though no ending date has been announced, "through spring" is what Disney has stated.
2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 3, Half Marathon
Posted onJanuary 17, 2016 – Star Wars Half Marathon Another 3:30 a.m. wakeup call. I had a new costume for this race – Rey, from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I knew there would be a number of other people with the same idea, but since Rey does a lot of running in the movie at … Continue reading "2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 3, Half Marathon"
2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2, 10K and Kids Races
Posted onJanuary 16, 2016 – Star Wars 10K 3:30 came much too early, though I didn’t sleep much and was awake before 3:00. Doesn’t matter how many races I’ve done, I always get pre-race jitters. I wore the same Queen Amidala costume I made for last year’s 10K – I’m into recycling. The white makeup is … Continue reading "2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2, 10K and Kids Races"
2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1
Posted onJanuary 2016 – time for the second annual Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland. I thought last year’s inaugural event was an unqualified success so I was interested in seeing what changes they might make this year. I’m happy to report that it was still a great event, and has firmly solidified its position … Continue reading "2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1"

Season of the Force – Food and Initial Impressions
Posted onJeanine has already covered the Season of the Force offerings in her blogs: Star Tours and Hyperspace Mountain Star Wars Launch Bay But I wanted to offer some of my first-hand impressions. We were there before the official opening so not everything was open, but we were able to experience some of it. 2015 Avengers Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2
Posted onToday our costumes were Princess Captain America (finally able to wear my tiara again!) and Hawkeye. Same costumes we wore last year, but why mess with a good thing? Unlike last year, this year there were actually two people who recognized that I was Princess Captain America. Lee's Hawkeye costume got most of the attention, though. There weren't too many Hawkeyes out there, plus he looked really good (though I told him he was smiling too much. ;-) )
Avengers Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1
Posted onThe third stop on our Eat, Drink, and Run tour was Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland. Our first event was the 10K on Saturday. But we didn't get off the cruise ship until Friday morning. Makes for tight timing when have to fly cross country so you can get to the Race Expo before it closes on Friday.
2015 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend
Posted onThe Wine and Dine Half Marathon is my favorite half marathon at Walt Disney World. It's the only nighttime half marathon. It starts at ESPN Wide World of Sports and ends at Epcot, where there's an after-party that goes until 4:00 a.m. The Food and Wine Festival booths are open as are some attractions, and there's also entertainment and character meet and greets. Party admission is included with race registration, though you still have to pay at the food booths. As we did last year, our plan was to run the race Saturday night, then take a four-night Disney cruise starting on Monday. Oh, and then return to California on Friday to run the Inaugural Infinity Gauntlet Challenge at Disneyland on Saturday and Sunday!
Disney’s Halloween Time 2015
Posted onFriday was Laura Gilbreath's first opportunity to experience Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort this year. Now all the Halloween activities take place in Disneyland. She shares her photos and thought on the 2015 events.
