Laura Gilbreath is a native of San Diego, CA. She has been making the trek up Interstate 5 to Disneyland since she was a small child and terrified of talking tikis and hitchhiking ghosts. She and her husband Lee enjoy trips to Disneyland and Walt Disney World, as well as sailings on the Disney Cruise Line.

Afternoon Tea at Steakhouse 55

"Classic Afternoon Tea at the Disneyland Hotel" was scheduled to begin on Friday, January 22, so I made a reservation for that day and invited my friend Kristin to join me, so we could celebrate her upcoming birthday. Tea is served from 12:00-3:00 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Though no ending date has been announced, "through spring" is what Disney has stated.

2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2, 10K and Kids Races

January 16, 2016 – Star Wars 10K 3:30 came much too early, though I didn’t sleep much and was awake before 3:00. Doesn’t matter how many races I’ve done, I always get pre-race jitters. I wore the same Queen Amidala costume I made for last year’s 10K – I’m into recycling. The white makeup is … Continue reading "2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2, 10K and Kids Races"

January 2016 – time for the second annual Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland. I thought last year’s inaugural event was an unqualified success so I was interested in seeing what changes they might make this year. I’m happy to report that it was still a great event, and has firmly solidified its position … Continue reading "2016 Disneyland Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend – Part 1"

Jeanine has already covered the Season of the Force offerings in her blogs: Star Tours and Hyperspace Mountain Star Wars Launch Bay But I wanted to offer some of my first-hand impressions. We were there before the official opening so not everything was open, but we were able to experience some of it. 2015 Avengers Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2

Today our costumes were Princess Captain America (finally able to wear my tiara again!) and Hawkeye. Same costumes we wore last year, but why mess with a good thing? Unlike last year, this year there were actually two people who recognized that I was Princess Captain America. Lee's Hawkeye costume got most of the attention, though. There weren't too many Hawkeyes out there, plus he looked really good (though I told him he was smiling too much. ;-) )

2015 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend

Posted on
The Wine and Dine Half Marathon is my favorite half marathon at Walt Disney World. It's the only nighttime half marathon. It starts at ESPN Wide World of Sports and ends at Epcot, where there's an after-party that goes until 4:00 a.m. The Food and Wine Festival booths are open as are some attractions, and there's also entertainment and character meet and greets. Party admission is included with race registration, though you still have to pay at the food booths. As we did last year, our plan was to run the race Saturday night, then take a four-night Disney cruise starting on Monday. Oh, and then return to California on Friday to run the Inaugural Infinity Gauntlet Challenge at Disneyland on Saturday and Sunday!
