SeaWorld’s 2016 Christmas Celebration sparkles with Rudolph, expanded Sea of Trees and return of Clyde and Seamore

SeaWorld Orlando kicked off its Christmas Celebration this past weekend with new characters Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and friends, new features added to its Sea of Trees light show and the return of Clyde and Seamore's Countdown to Christmas show. SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration takes place Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through December 11 and then runs daily December 16 through 31.

It's the return of Elf on the Shelf shenanigans. Yesterday marked the start of Elf Scout Return Week, the time when most families welcome back their scout elves or adopt new North Pole helpers. Our elves, Sugar Plum and Blizzard, usually arrive the day after Thanksgiving and true to form, they showed up for our North Pole Breakfast yesterday. You're never too old to have the elves help kick off the start of the Christmas season! Here are some of my favorite Disney-themed ideas that the elves set up.

Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Dessert Party

The new show is the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! projection and firework show held nightly now through the end of the month in front of the Chinese Theater. To add to that excitement there is also the opportunity to enjoy a dessert party for this event. When it was announced the reservations went quickly but check back to see if there are any openings during your visit.

Disney movie review: Moana takes audience on entertaining voyage

My 12-year-old daughter had been anticipating this animated movie from Walt Disney Animation Studios since she heard about it more than a year ago. Not only does she like the Disney princesses but she also loves all things related to Hawaii. This seemed like the perfect marriage of her favorites. But you don't have to have an interest in either, as in the case of my 14-year-old son, to thoroughly enjoy "Moana." That's because the story is engrossing and the animation breath-taking. Plus, much of the original music has been developed in collaboration with "Hamilton" composer and actor Lin-Manual Miranda.

Tiana’s Riverboat Party Ice Cream Social & Parade Viewing Begins Nov 29

Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen are throwing an afternoon bash in Magic Kingdom Park. "Tiana's Riverboat Party Ice Cream Social and Parade Viewing" will make its debut launch on the Liberty Belle Riverboat at Magic Kingdom Park on November 29. The fun starts at the boat dock, where guests can enjoy hand-dipped ice cream and soft drinks while they visit with Princess Tiana and Naveen.

New Amenities Coming to Disney’s Wildnerness Lodge

A sweeping re-imagination of the former Hidden Springs Pool area will help tell the richly layered backstory of the renamed Boulder Ridge Villas at the Wilderness Lodge. Depicted in the artist rendering and scheduled to open in summer 2017, Boulder Ridge Cove will feature an expanded sun deck and zero-depth-entry pool in what appears to have been an abandoned rock quarry.
