The Royal Rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside have recently gotten a HUGE overhaul, and Disney fans have thoughts.

While the rooms were some of our favorites before, with the over-the-top theming, the new changes seem to be a simpler version of what they used to be. Goodbye, Princesses, and hello… normal hotel room.
We asked our readers on Instagram and TikTok, and y’all did not hold back. One commenter said, “Nope. Disney hotels are being watered down. If I’m paying the price to stay in the Disney bubble, I want to be drunk on whimsy and forget the outside world exists for a few days.”
Another said, “Actually had plans to take our 6-year-old to stay in a Royal Suite this summer but ended up changing resorts when we saw the changes. I miss the over the top Princess theme! These just feel like…Disney hotel rooms. Nothing too special to justify the higher price.”

“Oh hate that. It pretty much just looks like an All Stars room but with Tiana on the walls instead of pop art fab five. People want themed rooms!” said one reader.

A few comments mentioned the change in headboards. They used to have fireworks that lit up, but now they have simple artwork. What happened to ur fireowrks?

While there were some positive comments, we can admit that we didn’t see many. One person said, “Those look lovely! It seems like they really balanced up to date and the royal feel.” Someone else also said, “I can say I love the gentle colors and it is brighter. It’s beautiful. I think it looks nicer and the step stool for the sink is a great add.”

Another commenter said, “Honestly, I love the new look! For pools and parks I love the whimsy and magic. But when it’s time to go in the room, I love having something a little more calm.”
