There are over 30 Disney World-owned and operated hotels, but how do you know which one is right for you?

From value resorts to deluxe stays, it can be difficult to decide the right spot for you on your Disney vacation. We’re taking you inside one of our favorite rooms so you can see if it’s right for you!
If you’ve ever heard our team talk about favorite Disney World hotels, we would bet you’ve heard us mention the Contemporary Resort and its Disney Vacation Club sister, Bay Lake Tower. This resort is home to some amazing dining, beautiful views, and it’s literally steps away from Magic Kingdom.

While some of the rooms can fall victim to the cavernous echo of that main Contemporary tower, the Bay Lake rooms host all of the views with a fraction of the screeching.

Thanks to David’s Vacation Club Rentals, we got to stay in a One-Bedroom Bay Lake Tower Room with a Preferred View! David’s provides a service that allows you to rent points and stay in Deluxe DVC rooms without buying into DVC itself. Pretty neat, huh?!
When you first enter the room, you’re going to see the main living area with dining space, open kitchen, and living room on the far side.

The kitchen is a good size and open. It comes fully equipped for as much (or little) cooking you may want to do while you’re on vacation.

A full oven and stove.

A full-sized coffee maker, with some coffee and tea supplies.

Toaster and measuring cup…

…and assorted plates, bowls, and serving dishes.

Other storage and tools, like paper towels and a cutting board.

A full-size fridge and freezer.

From the kitchen, you can cross into the living area, which has a sofa, chair, ottoman that also serves as a coffee table, and some other tables. There is also a flat screen TV and another pull-out bed underneath.

The sofa is in front of a hidden Murphy pullout bed.

The cushions and hard surface of the ottoman lift for additional storage.

The pull-out bed reclines from the wall and can sleep two.

The chair isn’t super fancy, but it’s a nice place to sit.

The pull-down bed underneath the TV can comfortably sleep a child.

And it folds up nicely when it’s not in use.

The bench-style dining room area is compact, but it can still accommodate several for meals

You can push the table into the bench to gain more space in your walkway between the dining area and the kitchen.

There is a door to the balcony just past the TV stand.

The bedroom has a king-sized bed, a dresser, and two nightstands.

The bedding has a more subtle Disney theme, so it doesn’t feel like you’re sleeping in a cartoon.

Each nightstand has two drawers and a lamp with outlets….

…and the ever-important USB & USB-C ports for charging your devices.

The drawers have a decent depth to hold plenty of your essentials

In the bathroom, you’ll find a large mirror with LED lights, a standing shower, and a tub!

The classic Disney shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are all ready for use in the shower.

The vanity area features fine marble, sinks, and a vanity mirror.

The sink has plenty of towels, toiletries, and space for all of your morning ritual needs.

In addition to the toiletries in the shower, there are also individual provisions available in the tub.

To the left of the mirror, there’s also a small separate room with a toilet and some decor. We appreciate that privacy!

Across from the bathroom is where you’ll find the closet.

Inside the closet, you’ll find an ironing board, an iron, laundry bags, a steamer, a safe, a luggage rack, and extra pillows and blankets. We also love to use this area as a way to get our bags off the floor and out of the way.

Near the front entrance is a stackable washer and dryer.

The room is supplied with some single-serving cleaning essentials, like laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, a sponge, and towels.

Though this room doesn’t have the bold theme as some of the Value resorts, there are still Disney touches you’ll notice throughout the space.

The art around the room ties into that mid-century style of the Contemporary…

…and is also reminiscent of Imagineer Mary Blair’s style.

And we love how each piece seems to draw inspiration from a land or attraction in Magic Kingdom

There’s also a “Hey Disney!” voice assistant in the room! You can ask it questions about the weather, the theme parks, talk to characters, play music, and more.

Now, let’s check out the view!

The whole reason why this is a preferred room is because of the amazing view it gives of Magic Kingdom!

On the balcony, there are two chairs and a small table. Perfect for enjoying a treat and some fireworks after the kiddos crash out.

When can you see the castle AND Space Mountain from your room?! Now that’s magical!

This resort is in the Magic Kingdom resort area, it’s walking distance from Magic Kingdom and a short monorail ride away from the TTC and a transfer to EPCOT. Even if you aren’t staying here, we recommend checking out the dining options here and grabbing a coffee or adult beverage while you stroll.

I disliked Bay Lake Tower, total lack of theming and felt so generic. Pool area felt like a budget hotel. The only nice thing was the close walk to Magic Kingdom.
I was a guest at the Grand Floridan and had a room that overlooked the Magic Kingdom
No, not in the main building but one of the smaller buildings and I saw the fireworks every night from our room. It was grand!
The water show also came right by our room at night.
Staying at the GF was one of the highlights of my trip. I have stayed at other Disney resorts but staying at the GF WAS A DREAM COME TRUE.
