Is it true? Could MagicBands really be dying at Disneyland Resort?

MagicBand+ is one of Disney’s most popular accessories when it comes to the parks. However, they’ve always been a much bigger hit at Disney World than they’ve been at Disneyland, and it’s led to MagicBands at Disneyland Resort becoming EXTINCT!
MagicBands are a bracelet system that allows guests to plan and experience their Disney vacation in a whole new way. They have been around for a little over a decade at Disney World, but Disneyland has only had MagicBands since 2022.

This feature and souvenir accessory uses differnet typed of technology to make visits to Disney (especially Disney World) more convenient and exciting. MagicBands allow guests to charge purchases to their Resort hotel rooms, get on-ride PhotoPass photos and effects, tap into the Parks, and more.

When MagicBands upgraded to MagicBand+, they could interact with different elements around the park. During firework shows, you’ll see MagicBand+’s light up in sync with the colors in the show. When Disney World’s 50th Anniversary brought gold character statues to the four parks, MagicBand+ could be waved in front of them to make them make sounds.

So, you can already see they’ve always been more of a Disney World thing than a Disneyland thing. Disneyland never even had the original iteration of the MagicBand system until it was upgraded to MagicBand+ in 2022. Even with them being fairly new to the resort, they just haven’t been a hit the way they are on the East Coast.

That brings us to today, where it looks like MagicBand+ is going to disappear at Disneyland Resort! The product is currently available for purchase at just three locations, including:
-
- Elias & Co. at Disney California Adventure
- Emporium at Disneyland Park
- World of Disney at Downtown Disney
According to Scott Gustin, Disneyland officials have confirmed that the resort is ending on-property sales of MagicBand+ but existing experiences, including Batuu Bounty Hunters, will continue to operate.

There is currently speculation that once their supply is out in the three locations, Disneyland won’t be getting stock anymore, and that’ll be it. This won’t end the use of MagicBand+ at Disneyland, so if you have one, you’ll still be able to use it at the park. That being said, you might not get the chance to buy them ever again once they’re sold out at Disneyland, but that is speculation. Of course, there is the chance that if MagicBand+ isn’t being sold at the park, the system could be removed. That just seems very unlikely!

We’ll keep an eye out for any updates on the situation. You’ll still be able to get MagicBands online and at Disney World, but clearly, they aren’t a hot item at Disneyland. For more Disney news and updates, make sure to follow us at AllEars!
