5 Things We’re Begging You to Quit Bringing to Disneyland

If you bring any of these items with you to the Disneyland Resort, you’re going to have a bad time…

Disneyland

Figuring out what to bring with you on a Disneyland trip is an essential part of the planning process (obviously), but evaluating what you should leave at home is nearly as important.  From banned items to money wasters, here are a few things you can leave out of your luggage…

A Speaker

Have you ever been in a public space while someone was playing loud music on a personal device and you were bothered by it? You’re certainly not alone, and Disney has installed a policy that does not allow personal speakers in the parks in an effort to enhance the guest experience.

You are allowed to bring a speaker with you during a hotel stay on-site, but you can only use it in your room. If you’re driving to Disneyland, you’ll need to either return it to your car or check it with a hotel’s bell services before you’re let through security. We totally back this policy. Folks are paying good money to be immersed in the Disney bubble and not whatever a random guest decides to play (which could also be less than family-friendly).

A Selfie Stick

Selfie sticks are banned from both Disneyland and Disney World, and no — the policy isn’t getting removed any time soon.

If you want to get some great shots, you can always hand your camera to a PhotoPass Cast Member, and they can take photos of you and your family/friends FOR FREE. Additionally, tripods or monopod stands that CAN fit inside a standard backpack or don’t extend over 6’ (182 cm) are fine to bring!

Loose Ice

Disneyland totally lets you bring food into the parks, but there are some limitations.

Loose or dry ice is not permitted in suitcases, bags, coolers, or backpacks, and reusable ice packs are recommended. This rule is based on possible safety hazards, so be cool and keep your ice in your drink where it belongs.

Packaged Bottle Water

Speaking of food and drinks, you ARE allowed to bring pre-packaged bottled water with you into the Disneyland Resort parks, but doing so is kind of a waste of money, especially if you plan to keep buying more at the parks.

We love our Owalas!

Buying a reusable water bottle is the way to go, as they’re often insulated to keep your drink cold and only require a one-time purchase.

“h2Oney”

Disneyland also has PLENTY of free water refill stations, so if you bring your own bottle, you can feasibly stay hydrated your entire trip without spending a single dime at the resort.

Vapes

The Disneyland Resort is a smoke-free campus, and that includes vapes. You’re not allowed to smoke anywhere — the hotels, the Esplanade, Downtown Disney, or the parks.

Disneyland Security

If Disneyland security finds your vape, they will confiscate it, and there’s no getting it back. We’ve seen people try to sneak vapes in regardless, and I can assure you that it won’t end well if you violate this rule.
