NEWS: Starbucks Unexpectedly CLOSES at Downtown Disney

It just got a bit harder to get your caffeine fix at Downtown Disney.

The Starbucks location in Disneyland’s shopping and dining district has suddenly closed without warning. Here’s what we know.

According to the Starbucks app, the Downtown Disney Starbucks is closed today. It does not show hours or mention when it could reopen. As of now, the locations inside Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure are open.

A sign was posted on the door of the Starbucks noting the closure, according to @disneymikem on Instagram, who posted a photo. He also mentioned that seating has been blocked and removed for now.

UPDATE: According to KTLA, the Starbucks baristas walked off the job on Saturday night and have been striking ever since.

This comes after unionized baristas voted to authorize their leaders to call a strike if Starbucks does not make progress on contract talks or make new proposals. The Los Angeles Times reports that this was approved overwhelmingly, with 92% of people who voted approving the authorization.

Baristas are prepared to strike on November 13th if they do not reach a deal. Starbucks has not confirmed if this is the reason for the sudden closure, and it is several days before the strikes are set to possibly take place, but this store could be feeling the impact early.
