Destination D23 Unveiled 4 HUGE Disney Movie Announcements: We Have a FULL RECAP

This holiday weekend is a busy one for Disney World. Not only has the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival kicked off, but The Beak and Barrel has just opened in Magic Kingdom. Well, another MASSIVE event is also happening at Disney World this weekend: Destination D23, Disney’s biggest fan event of the year.

What makes Destination D23 so special, though, is that we usually get a ton of announcements from Disney, including announcements about movies. So if you’ve missed out on any of those announcements, we’re breaking them down for you.

Toy Story 5

We got to see the first clip for Toy Story 5, and now we know a little more about the movie’s story. We saw high-tech Buzz Lightyear toys washing up on a deserted island, but they’re so smart that they figured out how to escape and get back to civilization. The movie’s premise will be toys vs. tech, with the toys facing off against Lilypad and Smarty Pants.

Toy Story 5 will release in theaters on June 19th, 2026.

Toy Story

We also learned that the original Toy Story will be returning to theaters on September 12th to celebrate the film’s 30th anniversary.

Rex in Disneyland

Plus, a Buzz Lightyear balloon will be featured in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. It’s a good time to be a Toy Story fan.

Hexed

Disney also announced an all-new original movie that will also be hitting theaters next year. The movie is called Hexed and will follow “a teenage oddball and his mom, who discover his weirdness is actually hidden magic, transporting them to a world where magic can run free.”

Disney explained that the stroy will follow an awkward teenage boy and his Type – A mom, who discover that what makes him unusual, might just be magical powers that will turn their lives and a secret world of magic, upside down. Hexed opens in theaters in November 2026. The movie is directed by Josie Trinidad and Jason Hand, with Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones producing.

Zootopia 2

If you’ve been looking to get more details about Zootopia 2, Disney has dropped them. We got a look at the opening scene from the movie, and in that scene, Judy is chasing a pit viper that stole a valuable book from a gala. The book could change how the world sees snakes. But in the process, Nick and Judy end up helping the snake escape, and they, too, become wanted fugitives.

Disney also brought Clawhauser (one of the characters in the movie) to the stage for the first time, although we’re not sure what to make of that. We’d love to see him meeting fans in Animal Kingdom, though, to celebrate the arrival of Zootopia: Better Zoogether! in November 2025.

The story follows Mabel, a “nature-loving college student” with a mission to bring the animals back to a glade that’s very important to her. Her mission is at odds with the mayor’s plan to build a highway through it, though! Thanks to some new technology that allows her to “hop” into the body of a robotic beaver, chaos ensues.

The movie is directed by Daniel Chong and produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle. Piper Curda plays the voice of Mabel, and Bobby Moynihan is the voice of King George.

Ice Age: Boiling Point

Who’s ready for a sequel? The iconic Ice Age series is returning in 2027 with Ice Age: Boiling Point! The movie will premiere on February 5th, 2027.

The movie will be a “dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure” starring Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and the rest of the herd as they venture to never-before-seen corners of the Lost World.

We’ll be keeping you updated on everything happening at Destination D23 this weekend, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
