Everything We Know About the NEW Disney Abu Dhabi Theme Park

Disney announced that it’s building a seventh theme park destination in Abu Dhabi. While they haven’t released too much information, we can piece together the details to figure out what will happen at the park.

The park, which will be located on Yas Island, is being described as “authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati.”

The new Abu Dhabi park will be a waterfront resort that combines “Disney’s iconic stories, characters, and attractions with Abu Dhabi’s vibrant culture, stunning shorelines, and breathtaking architecture.”

Disney has said there will be “unique attractions and experiences,” so we can expect rides and entertainment offerings that are brand new to the park.

The park will be developed and built by Miral, which has developed other parks in the area, such as SeaWorld Yas Island, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, and Ferrari World Yas Island. Disney Imagineers will lead the creative design and operational oversight, and Miral, in collaboration with American and European brands, will operate the resort.

Disney plans to incorporate the surrounding water to tell Disney stories in new ways. The park will offer signature Disney entertainment and themed accommodations, so we can plan to see hotels and resorts on the property.

There will also be “unique dining and retail experiences.” Like other Disney Parks, we can expect plenty of dining options and locations to shop for Disney merchandise.

Currently, Disney has not released any timeline, but the newest completed park, Shanghai Disneyland, was built in five years.

In an interview with CNBC, Bob Iger said, “We’re not pinning down a date yet. It typically takes us between 18 months and two years to design and fully develop, and approximately five years to build, but we’re not making any commitments right now.”
