If you’re an introvert, Disney World can be hard at times.

Sometimes sitting down for a nice meal can be a way to take a break during a busy Disney day, but even then, you might get caught up in what can feel overwhelming. That’s why we came up with a list of six rules an introverted Disney adult should follow at Disney restaurants. Trust us, we get it!
Ok, let’s talk about before you even enter the restaurant. One thing that is really easy to do is to read the menu before you even go into the restaurant. This would give you enough time to mentally prepare your order before sitting down. A lot of times, it can be overwhelming to be asked on the spot what you want to eat. Then you have to sit there and think about it — while worrying that you’re wasting your servers, or your party’s time.

Reading the menu beforehand gives you a lot of time to weigh the options, choose what you want to eat, and make a note of any modifications you might have. You can view every Disney restaurant via the Disney World Mobile App!

To continue off that point, it might be helpful to wait till someone else in your group orders first. This gives you a little extra time to confirm what you want, and gets the conversation rolling without you needing to start it. We use these two tricks quite a bit. It takes the pressure off of ordering right away and starting an order.

Character dining experiences are some of the best sit-down experiences you can have, but they can also be some of the most overwhelming sit-down experiences you can have. It really depends on your comfort, and what you can handle.

If you’re an introvert, we would limit how many character meals you do, or possibly skip them entirely. People feel that at times, character dining can be much more chaotic than normal dining options. Which is totally fair, there is a lot going on, and a lot of people. After all, character dining is among the most popular dining experiences at the park! So with that being said, you might want something more relaxing.

This one is pretty simple, but we like it — try asking for a booth! Booths are just more closed off than other tables, which allows you to have some space from everyone else. They honestly just feel like you can put yourself in a little comfortable box while you eat.

Ok, this is probably the biggest one! There are certain Disney restaurants, as fun as they can be, that have a LOT of commotion going on. Even certain food and drinks that might draw tons of attention to you. Those are the ones we would definitely avoid if you’re an introvert.

Let’s take Whispering Canyon for example. If you haven’t eaten there, you’re in for a treat. If you have eaten there, you know what we’re talking about. Their big thing is for you to (NOT) ask for ketchup. As soon as you ask your server for ketchup, everyone in the restaurant who has a bottle will come over to your table to bring you ketchup! Yeah, it’s kind of an introvert’s nightmare. Oh, and did we mention your server will literally scream “KETCHUP” at the top of their lungs — they’ll ask you to join in too. Maybe a no to this one!

Lastly, when picking your table, you might want to look for a table along the wall to minimize being surrounded by people on all sides. This one is pretty simple as well, but it can go a long way. Disney World is packed, and sometimes you’re rubbing shoulder to shoulder while walking around. Use your dining time to give yourself space from everyone else.

Dining at Disney as an introvert can be tough at times, but we think these tricks will go a long way for you, hopefully making your dining experience easier and more relaxing! Stay tuned to AllEars for more tips and tricks for how to take on Disney World!
