DreamWorks previously announced that Shrek 5 was officially in production and is planned for a 2026 release. The iconic original cast of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz are all set to return for the sequel, reprising their roles as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. And now, it’s been revealed that Zendaya is also joining the cast of Shrek 5!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya has been cast in Shrek 5 as the daughter of Shrek and Fiona.

Zendaya is currently one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood, with recent roles in several major movies and TV series, including Challengers, Dune, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Euphoria. Her addition to the new Shrek sequel could provide a huge boost by bringing new audiences into the 25-year franchise.

The movie’s release date is currently set for December 23rd, 2026, and it will be the first new addition to the main series since 2010’s Shrek Forever After.
