A posting for a new audition for a “youthful, quirky DJ” on Disney’s official careers website has given us a hint that a NEW show is coming to the Disneyland Resort later this summer.

The posting, which specifies it’s looking for a host for the show, calls for “vibrant, energetic, and dynamic vocalists of all gender identities, from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, with diverse abilities and personalities. Ideal candidates should be friendly and comfortable engaging with children, especially in live performance.”
The role also calls for “strong improvisational skills and the ability to connect with young audiences”, and specifies that “experience with current pop dance styles is a plus!” and has the usual work requirements specified in most Disney positions.
The audition lists the role as part of a show coming to the “Disney Theatre”, which could be referring to the Hyperion Theater located in the park’s Hollywood Land area. Over the years, the show has been the home of various productions, including Blast!, Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular, Frozen – Live at the Hyperion, and Rogers: The Musical.

In fact, the role described in the audition is reminiscent of a performer in one of those aforementioned shows: the Genie in Aladdin. That character also engaged in improvisational back and forth with audiences, including integrating many of-the-moment pop cultural references.
However, this could also be a show on one of the outdoor stages as we tend to see DJs there. Disneyland is planning to celebrate its 70th anniversary starting in May 2025, so it could have something to do with that. We’ll just have to wait patiently for an official announcement!

As of early January 2025, nothing further has been confirmed about what type of show may be coming to Disney’s California Adventure. However, if this Disney Careers posting comes to fruition, there will be some type of show featuring a “high energy” host sometime later this year. Stay tuned to AllEars for more.
