This year has been one of the busiest hurricane seasons, as meteorologists have predicted, we can remember, and it’s not over yet.

We’ve already seen how Hurricane Helene, and then later, Hurricane Milton, have affected Disney World (with the latter shutting down the parks for one day). Well, another storm system is on the way and it was just upgraded to a tropical storm.
We recently mentioned that the National Hurricane Center was tracking a storm with an “extremely high potential for development.” Well, that storm has gone from being a tropical depression to a tropical storm. This storm is currently located in the western Caribbean Sea and is the 18th storm of the Atlantic Ocean hurricane season.

The storm’s cone currently has it heading into Central America and could cause potentially catastrophic flash flooding and mudslides in Honduras over the weekend. The maximum sustained winds are currently 40 mph.
The system will reach the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and Belize early next week, where there is a risk of strong winds. It’s too early to tell if it will have any impacts in the Gulf of Mexico, including Florida, but that impact is not being ruled out and could arrive in the middle of next week.

The National Hurricane Center forecasts that this system could enter the southern Gulf of Mexico as a tropical depression, which would then place Florida in its path.
So if you’re headed to Disney World next week, you’ll want to make sure you pack your rain gear and stay weather aware. You’ll also want to check the Disney World website for any weather updates should this storm prove severe. We’ll also try to keep you updated, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
